I had a "need based" scholarship while I was in
college. In order to qualify for the same, I had to
maintain a 3.90 GPA. My student advisor made sure I
took a jock course every semester so that I could ace
that course and maintain my GPA. As such, I took
courses such as art appreciation, music appreciation,
etc. In one of my "modern culture" courses, I was
thought how to taste wine.
This is what I remember. You swivel the wine around in
the glass to release the aromas. Then you take a
sniff. Next you take a tiny sip. Then you announce,
"Bold, but not too pretentious." This is done
regardless of what the wine tastes like. The only
people who will be impressed are those who have no
education at all on wine.

PS. Forgive me for being petty but they have just
released this years eggnog here in Toronto. I have not
yet made up my mind if it is going to be a classic
year (and the rum is already running low......)
