Some call it the "comet of the century". It was discovered by the space telescope NEOWISE. It passed closest to the Sun on July 3, and its closest approach to Earth will occur on July 23. The ancients believed that the comets were harbingers of doom. Comet Neowise will reappear in our skies in about 7000 years.
