Empowering Youth- TEMPLES OF EDUCATIONWe are seeing increasing violence and intolerance?in student groups, started some time back?at JNU where ABVP and left backed student groups involved teachers, education Minister and police! Things have only gotten worse with Ramjas College in Delhi now turning into a battle ground as ABVP objected to invitation of? two JNU students Umar Khalid and? Rashid Shehla invitation?to address a seminar on a very relevant topic?"Culture of Protests". Violence? followed where teachers, girl students and even journalists were roughed up as a result whilst?police were?unable to enforce law and order,?which is disgraceful and?shameful! This is the future generation in temples of learning where? dissent and debate should be their life's blood. The intolerant ?culture of the student arm of the RSS in fact can be termed as anti national when they term anything they do not subscribe to as anti national! A campus should be an?area of peace and tranquility, where minds are receptive and open and not closed like a trash can or even a golden bowl! Reasons must be given?as to?why anti Indian slogans are made, allegedly by whom,?accepted/denied, wrong perceptions debated and cleared, enemies convinced by word of mouth and pen! Dirty politics must be exposed, not hidden/ suppressed?by chicanery and violence banned by law?with swift stringent punishment. Why are they so scared of dialogue and debate? Let it come out!? Let dissent bring out the worst in dignified debate. If it hurts your sentiments, what about it hurting another's sentiments if it does not come out? Nobody is perfect. Arts and science can only progress to greatness and genius?in absolute freedom. With BJP stalwarts saying freedom of speech does not extend to anti national speech and Principals of Institutions too scared to take on the government backed ABVP, democracy is in dangerous hands. Remember Tagore's poem?"Where the mind is without fear................ Into that Heaven of freedom let my country awake".?
