Joining hands to stop child abuse

Press Release

Heading: Rock song spearheads child abuse

Intro: If music is the song of the soul, then `End of Innocence' by Kismet and
Lethal Ethel marked an evening of raw talent, emotion and a new live sound that
speaks strongly the language of social concern.

Think Geek Records and Children's Rights in Goa (CRG) in collaboration with
`Kismet and Lethal Ethel' released 'End of Innocence', a single-song-CD on 9
September between 3.30 to 6.00pm at Ernesto's, at Club Vasco, Municipal Garden,
Panaji. The lyrics are by singer-songwriter and journalist Ethel Da Costa
(Lethal Ethel), while the music is by Kismet, a progressive rock fusion band
that believes in creating original music. The song with a catchy hip-hop
rap-rock melody focuses on the pain and trauma of an abused child and the
apathy of the powers that be to address the issue with the seriousness it
deserves.

Playing the debut single live to a packed audience at Ernesto's, guests for the
evening supermodel Nolana D'Mello, activist actress Prashanti Talpankar,
Children's Rights in Goa frontwoman Nishtha Desai and child prodigy Barkha Naik
released the single to full-bodied applause and an encore that saw an evening
of Goa's best talent displaying vocal, acting and performance skills. Taking to
stage were guitarists Dillon Araujo and Ashley Afonso paying tributes to Bob
Dylan, while 14-year-old Chrisele Mendonca and 11-year-old Karla de Souza
easily proved why they are hugely appreciated as Goa's rising classical
singers. A short skit by campaign children of CRG, followed by a live gig by
Kismet and Lethal Ethel playing their orginal songs `9/11,' `Ticket to
Paradise,' `Vengeance' ended with a jam-up of musicians, singers and audience
with `We are the World' thus ending a fabulous energetic evening on a high note.
Working on a full-fledged album and videos slated for release end of the year
with a new sound from Goa, the album will also feature collaborations with
various artists for an international flavour of social issues that concern the
world today.

GREAT THINGS HAPPEN WITH MUSIC
For those not in the know, KISMET is a Goa based progressive fusion rock band
whose sound encompasses influences as diverse as rock, blues, pop, classical,
folk and world music all coming together in a seamless fusion to create a sound
that is unique and timeless. Comprising of five enterprising musicians from Goa
who have left everything behind for the sake of their passion, Kismet is a band
with a mission. Their music is inspired by life, its joys and sorrows,
struggles and challenges. They believe that an artist living on the fringes of
society can and should ask those socially relevant questions that are often
swept under the carpet because they are so uncomfortable. They make music the
old fashioned way with live instruments and songs written from the heart. They
have a raw earthy feel to their music and a freshness of thought evident in
their meaningful lyrics, soulful melodies and novel arrangements. Sounds of
yesterday and today teaming up to make the music of
tomorrow. They burst on the scene with their single `9/11' which combines an
ethnic rhythms of the Goan dulpod with heavy metal and neo-classical electric
guitar arrangements, echoing the horror of global terrorism and posing some
difficult questions to the world regarding the ongoing war against terror. The
song is now playing on FM Rainbow, Goa and Mumbai. Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
