Bicholim. According to the Bicholim police some unknown persons affected entry into Kelbai devasthan at Mayem by breaking open the front door and decamped with cash of Rs 30,000 from the cash box and a gold plated crown and necklace of the goddess worth about 20,000. The culprits later also went to Siddheshwar math and another math and decamped with some cash from the cash box. "The police who are already under staff were kept busy with clearing the road blockade, in view of the bandh and were unable to patrol near the temple and the culprits got a chance to commit theft." sources from police told. When contacted Bicholim PI, Ninad Devulkar said that the modus operandi of the theft is similar to that of thefts committed during last few days at Pernem and Mapusa. The finger print experts and dog squad was also pressed into service but were unable to give any clue. PI, Ninad Devulkar is further investigating the case under the guidance of DySP, Gajanan Prabhudesai.
