Name new airport terminal after Dr Jack de Sequeira: GSRP submits Petition to AAI Chairman Goa Su-Raj Party today submitted a petition demanding that the new terminal at Dabolim Airport be named \'Dr Jack de Sequeira International Airport Goa\' to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) Chairman, Alok Sinha. GSRP Secretary and President (Youth Affairs), Savio Rodrigues met with the AAI Chairman. The importance of the contribution of Dr Jack de Sequeira to Goa identity was discussed and the positive impact of naming the airport after a Goan stalwart would have on the people of Goa was also elucidated. AAI Chairman told GSRP that naming of the airport after Dr Jack de Sequeira is not a problem at all for AAI. However, it would have to be a requisition from the State government and a directive from the Centre, revealed Rodrigues. Goa Su-Raj Party will be submitting a petition to both the State and Centre demanding that the Dabolim terminal be named after Dr Jack de Sequeira in remembrance of the effort and dedication of the \'Father of the opinion Poll\' in protecting Goa\'s unique identity by not allowing it to merge with Maharashtra. If it was not for Dr. Jack de Sequeira\'s efforts to keep Goa as Goa by thwarting the merger approach of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) of then chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar, Goa would be lost to Maharashtra lock, stock and barrel and the people of Goa would cease to be Goans, Rodrigues said lamenting that no government since then did anything in remembrance of Dr Sequeira\'s efforts. Hence, the Goa Su-Raj Party which is fighting to retain Goa\'s identity amidst the chaos of the growing infuence and influx of migrant population into Goa, wants the Dabolim airport infrastructure to be named after him.
