Save Goa Front won't have any tie-up with BJP, Cong: Churchill

NT News Service

Margao /Curtorim, May 1 The South Goa MP, Mr Churchill Alemao, who has
decided to resign from the Congress party on May 8, said that he will
be contesting from Navelim assembly constituency as the candidate of
Save Goa Front.

Addressing a press conference in Margao, Mr Alemao claimed that was
getting good response from the people and added that some politicians
were harassing his supporters.

He warned that Goa would become another Bihar if muscle power
activities continue and alleged that the police had become inactive in
South Goa.

He also alleged that there were several bogus voters in Navelim
constituency and demanded that the concerned authorities verify the
same.

Speaking to 'The Navhind Times' in Curtorim, on the sidelines of the
Save Goa Front's Convention, Mr Alemao said that the Save Goa Front
will field candidates in 35 constituencies and expressed confidence
that electorate of Goa would support the Front.

Asked whether the Save Goa Front would have alliance with any other
party, Mr Alemao said that there will be no alliance with the BJP and
the Congress and the Save Goa Front is capable of getting a majority
to form the government on its own.

Meanwhile, Mr Alex Reginaldo Lourenco, a ZP member from South Goa was
today declared as the candidate of the Save Goa Front from Curtorim
constituency. The announcement was made by the front's president, Mr
Sidhant Buyao.

Mr Lourenco said much of the work that he desired could not be
executed due to lack of powers for the Zilla Parishad and alleged that
the MLAs were holding back the powers and therefore priorities for the
whole constituency could not be met.
