SHANTARAM NAIK PROPOSES TO ALLOT 50 LAKHS UNDER MPLAD FOR CURCHOREM
CONSTITUENCY
Mr Shantaram Naik M P said that he proposes to allot minimum 50 lakhs
rupees in Curchorem Constituency after the Assembly polls and that he is
going to request the party workers to start identifying the land with
the help of Municipality or any of the Panchayats in the Constituency
for a good project.
Mr Naik was laying foundation stone for a community hall under Members
of Parliament Area Development Scheme (MPLAD)for New Educational
Institute, Curchorem.
Mr Naik said that he has given maximum allocation to education under his
MPLAD Scheme and will continue to do so during his present term.
Mr Naik said that since procedural requirements causes delays in
implementation of MPLAD projects , he has requested the government to
establish two independent cells, one for north Goa and another for South
Goa, headed by an Executive Engineer , to exclusively deal with MPLAD
projects.
Speaking about the quality of education, Mr Naik said that Goa does not
have strategy plan for improving quality of education and said that the
new government which will assume power after the Assembly elections,
will have to draw a long term plan to achieve the objective, so that,
our boys and girls do not fail in basic requirements of employers
seeking to recruit young people.
Although investment in education is increasing in India, 25% of its
population is still illiterate and only 15% of Indian students reach
high school level and approximately 7% to graduate level.
Mr Naik said upgradation of teachers training has to be done with
genuine experts, training the teachers, from time to time.
