MPS AND MTNL INTERNET SERVICES It is reported that Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd provides the official quota of internet services, whilst MPs are also allowed private operators services on their mobile phone! MTNL services being poor/ inefficient, a House Committee instead of correcting what is wrong in the State run enterprise in public interest, recommended switching to private internet providers and Speaker Om Birla approved it! It is shocking to me that a party so high on national security and nationalism, fails to do what is necessary in national interest to ensure private operators have competition and the importance of security in communication by government operated efficient services, which can be important also in keeping the prices down for the common man! In Goa we have BSNL which it appears, is on the way to privatization. If everything is to be privatized, what do we need so many MPs, MLAs and government servants draining our economy with pathetic services to the citizens?
