The introduction to bridge session given by Amaresh Deshpande at Associacao Academica de Moira was quite an engrossing one attended by about 20 enthusiasts of all ages, including four kids, the youngest of which were Jefferey D'Souza's 13 year old twins Joel and Jane.
Amaresh gave a lucid explanation of some important concepts of play and then proceeded to give the participants small mental exercises which they then proceeded to solve. The time was too little to actually try out a full game but I think everyone's appetite was whetted by the presentation. Bridge like chess is a game designed to help the brain understand some mathematical concepts intuitively so hopefully it may catch on. Amaresh took the email ids of the participants and said he would contact us later to find out if we would be interested in learning an introductory variety of Bridge called 'Mini-Bridge'. Maybe other village clubs could also contact him amaresh.deshpande@gmail.comand find out if he could help introduce the game to them. -- Augusto Pinto 40, Novo Portugal Moira, Bardez Goa, India E pinto...@gmail.com P 0832-2470336 M 9881126350
