Goanet mourns the passing of Jorge de Abreu Noronha in Portugal - Nov 27/07 http://tinyurl.com/2dk2bl http://tinyurl.com/29kpdx --------------------------------------------------------------------------- To Goanet - And it is not even halftime yet. SGM = Screw Goa Manch GBA = Goa Bachao Abhiyan Today, I took stock of the progress at Reis Magos from the Miramar waterline. Mr Singh, Mrs Ahuja, and Sharma-ji will be pleased - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/reismagos-1.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/reismagos-2.jpg En route to the waterline - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/pissing-in-miramar.jpg Top: a Bihari, Centre: a tourist driver from Gujarat, Bottom: a ghati from Karnataka. All taken within a space of 15 seconds. United in piss, we are. National integration zindabad! Goa's cancer has metastasized, with every vital organ damaged beyond repair. The GBA's efforts amount to no more than administering a lozenge to stop a fit of cough when the cancer patient is halfway to the morgue. This is not criticism of the GBA. This is a statement of reality. We have a complete collapse in governance, an apathetic populace, and a bunch of criminals in power backed by stupendous moneybags. Against such odds, a motley crew of part-time do-gooders stands no chance. We need to stop all construction in Goa NOW. But it ain't going to happen. We have an indifferent citizenry. Goans are aroused only when they or their immediate surroundings are directly affected, otherwise it is someone else's issue. The SGM supporters know they can simply run the clock out and they are so far ahead anyway. This whole thing about the GBA and the other groups fighting to save Goa reminds me of a waterbed - you press down on some problem HERE, you immediately get a bulge THERE. No sooner have you subdued the bulge THERE than the one you thought you had flattened HERE has popped back up. The only workable solution, short of a people's revolution, has to be political (all that tripe about "apolitical" notwithstanding) and it has to come soon, very soon. Only good, capable people in power, regardless of political affiliation, will have the power to save Goa. Warm regards, r
