In those days, when Konkani and Marathi were competing for space in Goa, the late Dr Wilfred "Willy" de Souza FRCS (Lon) and FRCS (Edin), Chief Minister of Goa for four short-and-incomplete stints, would often say that the coconut tree has 57 words connected with it in Goa.
So, is the coconut to Goa what snow is to the Eskimo (50 different words for snow in their language https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/there-really-are-50-eskimo-words-for-snow/2013/01/14/e0e3f4e0-59a0-11e2-beee-6e38f5215402_story.html ) I recall him saying this when I was a young reporter in the 1980s. Recently, I did a search, mainly through dictionaries in my collection and through friends in the know. Actually, there seem to be more like 80+ words. Still tidying it up... Can you help me build this collection? Will share it once it gets closer to completion. Thanks! FN +91-9822122436 fredericknoron...@gmail.com ᐧ
