Dear all,

when reading a letter my mothers' niece wrote in 1970, I read the following:

When I was in the Bandra Convent in december 1969 I was invited to witness a
"squatting Mass". An ugly name for a lovely thing. The priest does not get
up at all but sits in the lotus position clad in a white surplice with a
saffron scarf round his shoulders. The tabla and the cymbals were played
during Mass and I found the whole thing lovely, but most Goans complain that
the Church is going Hindu, so these ceremonies have to be done cautiously.

Does this still exist?
Or does this not really mean a thing, not now and not in those days?

I was just curious what some of you might say/find of this?
Let me know,

al the best,
