*NEW DELHI: *The Indian Women’s Senior National Team clashes swords against
Maldives in their opening fixture of the 12th South Asian Games on February
05, 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, Meghalaya, the
kick-off for which is at IST 1:30PM.



The Indian eves had been in a preparatory camp in Shillong from January 17
– 31, 2016, and will look to start their South Asian Games campaign on a
winning note, before taking on Sri Lanka on February 09, 2016.



In an exclusive interview with www.the-aiff.com, Head Coach of the Indian
Women’s Team Sajid Dar talks at length about the Team’s preparation,
strengths, fitness, tenacity, and a lot more.*EXCERPTS:*



*How do you reflect on the preparation of the Team?*



The Players have acclimatized well to the chilly weather conditions and are
focusing on the forthcoming Tournament. All of them are raring for the
kick-off and are willing to give their all on the pitch. We hope that the
weather does not play spoilsport.



*What stays the strength of the Team?*



The spirit of unity is oozing through the squad and that is one of our
strengths apart from all the Players being match fit. Each and every Player
is looking forward to win the Tournament and that is a huge motivation.



*What is your outlook of India’s opponents – Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal and
Bangladesh?*



There are no easy opponents when it comes to Football. Every Team is
difficult to play against and we have the utmost respect for our opponents,
who have progressed in terms of their style of play in the recent Years.
Every match is a challenge for us.



*Is there some mental pressure, given that India is the defending Champion?*



There is always pressure when you are the defending Champions and given
that we are the hosts of the Tournament the pressure will be like never
before. However, we have to take one match at a time and focus on the task
ahead of us.



*What is your goal for this Tournament?*



We have to win this Tournament for the Women of India. At the same time it
will be a good notion to kick-start 2016 by being crowned Champions of
South Asian Games.



*3 Senior Players (Bembem Devi, Bala Devi, Ashalata Devi) went to play in
Maldives in 2015. Do you think it will give you an edge tomorrow against
them?*



Most certainly! All three Players are integral to the Indian setup and they
will help in identifying and nullifying the strengths of the Maldivian Team
as they have already brushed shoulders against them in Maldives. These
three will be our wildcard on the morrow.



*How significant would be Bembem Devi’s presence in the Dressing Room for
the South Asian Games?*



Bembem’s presence is immense in the Dressing Room as she helps to unify the
Team by leading from the front. Apart from being a sound Player her
ability has always been a driving force for us. Any Coach will be happy to
have a ‘Bembem’ in his squad and all the Players want to win this
Tournament for her as the (South Asian) Games will be her last appearance
for the National Team.

This is a reply to your mail about Aquafina bottles;
Must find out whether Aquafina who are using water from "PUBLIC WATER
SOURCE  ( P> W> S> ) is well filtered and from what  kind of instrument is
tested?
 If the filtering technique  is not adequate  than water bottles sold to
public will be  therefore contaminated.

Just to inform you, that recently PWD water taps at Caranzalem was found
contaminated with sewage,( Herald reported in full swing)  and still the
PWD engineers and technicians  are on the job but of no success. Everyday
PWD workers are on the digging job. It seems that there are 4 pipes are
laid in the same area and one or two lines are contaminated. It seems the
bigger pipe is newly layed down is good. PWD is trying to connect all of
them, to the bigger size diameter piping as people are demanding. The water
sample are taken by PWD officals everyday in random without proper
procedure, no labeling , no House Number, No date and No marking in the
test tube, therefore all efforts to put the line in order
is unsuccessful. Except few houses all other people drink the water which
is contaminated without their knowledge.  I was told that Herald Manager's
 Mr. Michael's building is also affected  and he too gets the water
contaminated and smelling as per my sources. His building  line is today
 been asked to change but GOD only knows whether all the lines are of same
kind of contamination?
I have inspected these lines unofficially and found that one of the houses
at Caranzalem near the bakery the owner Mrs Daisy Dourado told me that the
PWD person asked her to shell out Rs.10,000/- for replacing 10 pipes which
goes to her house from the main road. Upon my intervention the PWD
Contractor was asked to fix it up only one new pipe which crosses the road
and connect to the old piping therefore she was saved of expenditure of
buying pipes. Her work is completed today.
 . That means the PWD contractor demands  people to replace the pipes at
their cost, by putting them in expenses and allegedly without any receipt.?
Very few people knows the real problem and they are buying filtered water
to drink water in their housing  and the rest drink contaminated water
which comes from the line.  I see these PWD staff carrying  open tube
collecting water sample everyday even at late evening without any lab.
procedure and discarding water sample without doing any tests on just
visual and smell.  This is perhaps an eye wash.
Nobody knows when the water line will be free for drinking. I do
not understand why 4 lines first of all were used in the same area,
it seems one line is MPLAD line of ex-MP John Fds, and others are fixed
with influence much earlier times, etc. his whole issue must be
investigated by CBI or PIL against such contamination by PWD. Who will do
that? People are illiterate and poor people are suffering with this
problem. There is a bakery nearby and nobody knows whether these breads
sold by them are contaminated or not and people are eating everyday.
One influential person also stays just nearby John Fernandes that is
 ex-Congress President..
I think Herald must investigate also and that Michael who resides closely
must find out what is happening of water contamination of sewage in the
area where he lives.
The situation is very critical and serious and PWD themselves do not know
what they are doing.
I have asked many houses in the vicinity of this contamination and all of
them said that the water is smelling and PWD also knows when they take
sample that water is smelling, but day by day they say  that it is reducing
the smell.
GOD only should help them.

THAT MEANS  THE AQUAFINA MENTIONED BY YOU, WILL ALSO HAVE THE SAME FATE IF
THE WATER IS NOT CHECKED BY THE RENOWNED GOVT  LABORATORY ( nio) OR GSPCB
 BOARD.

STATE OF GOA IS GOING TO DOGS UNDER BJP GOVERNMENT.

Luckily we in Dona Paula get good direct line. and clean.
it seems this line goes to Governor Mridula Sinha Raj Bhavan  and I am
lucky in that case as I reside in Dona Paula.

drink comes from the same source as tap water, the brand's owner 
PepsiCo said

A group called Corporate Accountability International has been pressuring 
bottled water sellers to curb what it calls misleading marketing practices.

Aquafina is the single biggest bottled water brand, and its bottles are now 
labeled "P.W.S." The new labels will spell out "public water source."

"If this helps clarify the fact that the water originates from public sources, 
then it's a reasonable thing to do," PepsiCo pep spokeswoman Michelle Naughton 
said Friday.

The corporate accountability group is also pressing for similar concessions 
from Coca-Cola 
ko, which owns the Dasani water brand.

Dasani's website says that Dasani comes from local water supplies and is then 
filtered.

"We don't believe that consumers are confused about the source of Dasani 
water," Coca-Cola spokeswoman Diana Garza Ciarlante said. "The label clearly 
states that it is purified water."

Sales of bottled water has been a growing source of revenue for companies such 
as PepsiCo, based in Purchase, N.Y., and Atlanta-based Coca-Cola as they lessen 
their dependence on sales of traditional carbonated sodas, as consumer concern 
over health issues has weakened demand.

The most clear and exhaustive explanation of why Goa need Special Status to be 
included in Article 371 (i) of the Constitution of India,  comes from Mathany 
Saldanha's neice Malisa Simoes. She took the time and the trouble to engage 
with BJP supporters on social media, who are determined to dismiss the Special 
Status movement as a Christian Church directed movement. This, even though most 
of the core committee of the Goa's Movement for Special Status are devout 
Hindus. And that in the run-up to both the state elections and the national 
elections, these same supporters were gung-ho about Special Status for Goa. The 
point of view of the governments at state and centre levels can be gauged by 
the weight of their supporters' arguments.

There are many people - Goans and non-Goans - who are still not aware of what 
we are demanding when we demand Special Status. We ask that it should be added 
to Article 371 (i) for Goa, which merely allows Goa to have 40 MLAs. We ask 
that we be given the same protection of our culture and land, just as the same 
small states that are included in Article 371 like Nagaland and Mizoram and 
Sikkim. We are not asking for Special Status in terms of a financial package. 
We are asking for Special Status with in terms of protecting the Goan identity. 
It does not affect the national exchequer. It only affects the land sharks and 
their clients who would just love to have a villa in Goa which is used to party 
in or chill at after the rigors of making more disposable cash in their cities 
of origin.

It was the land sharks that convinced the BJP Government to remove protection 
to the coconut tree. It was the land sharks who are determined to replace the 
stately coconut trees with hybrid short Kerala coconut palms, which don't need 
a padekar to climb dizzy heights, but can be plucked by hand. It is ridiculous 
ideas like these, for short term profits that are changing the face of the Goa 
that is loved not just by Goans but by visitors who flock here for the peace 
and tranquility of swaying palms and sandy beaches. Uncontrolled construction 
along the beach belt which complete disregard to coastal regulation zone rules 
is turning a number of beaches into rocks. The sand is being washed away.

MLAs often smirk and say, but it is Goans themselves who are selling off their 
land, what can Government do about that? Government should set up a 20 year 
Regional Plan for land use, with clear zoning for NDZ, CRZ, agricultural, 
orchard, forest and settlement, after which no land conversions should take 
place for 20 years.

If you would like to know the arguments for Special Status for Goa, here are 
some:

  *   Special Status is a way of making sure that Goans do not die in their own 
home town due to the shattering economic (buying capacity) changes that Goa is 
facing right now. When there is an influx of black money that comes into the 
market from Delhi etc. there is a disconnect with the earning capacity of a 
local as opposed to those pumping in money for the purpose of purchasing land 
or property at exorbitant prices.
  *   If we receive Special Status we may help our modestly earning hard 
working brethren and sisteren (which are 90% of the locals, including me) not 
getting pushed to the outskirts of Goa.

Answer to the claim of Special Status being anti-national:

  *   A lot of the so-called 'nationalist' speak about Special Status being 
anti-national, well, ask any of these so-called nationalists, whether they can 
even dream of buying a two-bedroom apartment in any of the cities.
  *   Special Status is a way of the locals getting a share in their cities and 
villages.
  *   Special Status is the answer to every cry of our youth not to be pushed 
to the periphery.
  *   Special Status is the answer to the hurting land not to be further 
destructed.
  *   Special Status is the answer for sustenance.

Answer to Goans are against non-Goans:

  *   Nobody is against non locals, we are against the disconnect that they 
create in terms of economics. Goa is becoming a land for the UBER RICH, and yet 
nobody has a problem with the UBER RICH until they mess up economics of a 
sustainable society.
  *   Save Goa to save India, or else you are looking at another Monte Carlo, 
Phi Phi Islands, Bali, The Galapagos Islands, Cozumel - Mexico etc.

This is how Monte Carlo looks and if Goa does not stop this rampant haphazard 
unsustainable destruction of land and economics by the UBER rich who are in 
cahoots with most politicians and the damming church, we are definitely heading 
the Monte Carlo way.

Answer to this is unconstitutional:

  *   There are two terms ‘Special Status’ and ‘Special Category Status’ which

Your apprehensions ( Wet & dry garbage mixing up in dumpers going to dumping 
yard & more useage of plastic bags ) are true & genuine. These questions are 
raised by all tax payers.

Deonar incidence & todays High court directive to BMC asking for time line to 
close Deonar dumping grounds is great eye opener.

If you remember we agitated strongly to close Gorai dumping ground, court's 
intervention, BMC closed it Then we went to throw our garbage in our 
neighbour's ground at Uttan Bhayander's ground. They agitated, now court is 
asking to stop it very soon. BMC is seeking another neighbour's ground at 
Taloja & Airoli, to throw our garbage in their grounds. Very soon we will have 
no place on earth to dump our Garbage That's the million Dollars Question 
haunting all of us.

Very soon we are working to ensure that nothing goes to dumping ground.

How it can happen?

Segregation mandatory.

Wet garbage will be converted into manure by drum rollers easily available in 
market.

Dry garbage can be given to our rag picker & other collecting agents. BMC has 
started Dry garbage vans in all wards.

Your E waste agencies run collection points are being set up in each ward.

The BMC is coming with proposals for giving REBATE IN PROPERTY TAX. They have 
discussed with our NGOs, this proposal. Very soon it will be implemented.

Humble request please cooperate, participate & involve your self in our 
struggle to save this earth.

BMC has increased budget for Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, please remember we are 
paying new tax also on it.

The authorities ie. BMC/ STATE GOVT are working but unless we volunteer to 
help, then & then this disaster can be averted.
