Goods and Services Tax - eh ?   What if your Doctor/Dentist/local hardware

Government collecttaxes on the service or goods ?  Indians know how to EVADE
(not avoid) taxation, and investing their ill-gotten income in Gold, real
estate in the names of relatives orshell companies etc.GST is not a panacea to
curb corruption.  It is "chalta he, chalta he" business as usual.

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, in a way, resembles a
duck as his is too simple a mind to understand the complexity of the modern
world. He will not only become a laughingstock if he becomes president but
also a danger to world peace.

Will Americans elect a mentally challenged individual to solve their
national and international problems? Maybe, yes, as people around the world
are turning inwards as globalization is making a lot of folks fearful that
their understanding of our complex world is inadequate, and a narrow-minded
world view is preferable and manageable, makes sense, and is something to
welcome and embrace with both arms. In a world of this nature, our vision
does not extend beyond me and my family and, yes, my country right or
wrong! The world no longer exists, and family does not extend to the family
of human beings which is now a part of the world of fiction. To accept the
fact that we all belong to the human family we will have to wait for aliens
to attack our planet which is unlikely.

Enter Donald Trump. With Brexit Donald Trump has been given a fillip for
Americans to want to go the way of the British even though there are
discordant voices within the UK who believe this is an act of regression.
The US no doubt is an extremely rich and powerful nation and so it is an
appealing idea to believe it is possible for Americans even in the
twenty-first century to become insular and have a successful ending to what
is now widely known as the American dream.

His vision to eliminate enemies of the US anywhere in the world is a bad
commentary on his memory as he appears to have completely forgotten 9/11
which teaches Americans how the enemy is lurking not only in some far away
country but within the USA too. Has, Donald the duck, really forgotten or
does he think with his low level of intelligence it is a problem which is
no challenge for him? If so, he is obviously a relative of Donald Duck and
not Superman. Other nations of lessor gods might wisely dismiss the idea of
going it alone on first thought as it is unworkable.

Will Britain, a great colonial power, be able to succeed on its own today?
We will have to wait and see what happens in future; meanwhile, the mood is
ripe for Donald Trump to be crowned the next American president!

A great number of outstanding intellectuals around the word appear
exhausted, and have stopped arguing intelligently. They have given up and
appear already to see Donald Trump sitting comfortably in the presidential
chair, signing away international documents which have a dark and menacing
lining. When Donald Trump has finished with the presidential chair he might
well make Monica Lewinsky resemble a nun and Bill Clinton a priest.

President George Bush Jr created a disaster for the US economy, and we can
expect Donald Trump to do it again. His hateful and fiery opinions might
well set half the world aflame which no number of firefighters will be able
to extinguish effectively.

As we live in an inter-connected world his stupid actions will have a
serious impact in our country too. His piece meal solutions which
disregards the complexity and inter-connectivity of the hi-tech world in
which we live today is dangerous, something he is unable to comprehend and
which might well boomerang on the USA.

Americans need to actively work for peace by denouncing and renouncing
Donald Trump for president. Either that or get ready to live in hell on
Earth.

[Goanet] Parrikar and Trump

2016-08-10 Thread Roland
I am seeing a lot more in common with these two politicians than meets the eye.

Do you think Parrikar would come to the eye of Modi and become the Defence
Minister of the country from being the CM of a tiny state if he:

Did not talk of Zero Corruption no matter what his 'live and let live'
intention.

Did not make a bosom friend out of Goa's Catholic patriarch.

Did not buy out the administration's top prosecutor.

Did not be an obedient pracharak of the RSS and a Yes Man of the BJP's brass.

Did not promise to remove all casinos from Goa while letting them provide him
with hush money.

Similarly do you think Trump would have led the pack of 17 Republican wannabe
Presidents going on to win the GOP race if he did not:

Villify the Muslims, America's favourite whipping boys.

Promise to win all future wars.

Promise to bring lost jobs home again.

Promise to repeal existing trade treaties because they were not favourable to
the country.

Build a wall with Mexico and make them pay for it.

Promise to make America great again.

Did you see how Parrikar is as quiet as a chicken except for his inane
statements on unimportant subjects using atrocious pronunciation.

If Trump becomes President, watch him doing the Parrikar and Mervyn Lobo
relocating to the USA (as promised).

LAND GRAB CASE AGAINST TOURISM MINISTER DILIP PARULEKAR ADJOURNED TO AUGUST
16TH

Judge BP Deshpande of the Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption
Act will on 16th August pronounce his order on whether I am entitled to a
copy of the entire report filed by the Crime Branch seeking to close the
Serula Communidade cheating and land grab case against Goa’s Tourism
Minister Dilip Parulekar.

It has been submitted before Judge Deshpande that in terms of the law laid
down by the Supreme Court, as the complainant in the case I am entitled to
a copy of the closure report. Have also submitted to the Court that I would
strongly oppose the malafied move by the Crime Branch to shield Dilip
Parulekar by high-handedly attempting to close the case.

Interestingly the Crime Branch at the last several hearings of the case had
been regularly submitting to the Court that the investigation of the case
was almost over and that they were only awaiting sanction from the
government to charge sheet the accused.

Judge Deshpande’s attention has been drawn that the Crime Branch in an
attempt to shield Dilip Parulekar was trying to vitiate the investigation
by declaring that Dilip Parulekar was a poor victim who was misled by the
Communidade officials to grab the land.

The Court on 17th March this year while rejecting the Crime Branch’s plea
for further time to probe the case had directed that the investigation be
completed forthwith after it was pointed out to Judge Deshpande that the
Crime Branch was intentionally dragging its feet in the investigation to
shield Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar. The Court on 7th October 2014 had
directed the Crime Branch to complete the investigation within a month.

The Mapusa JMFC on 16th January 2014 had directed the Porvorim Police to
register an FIR for offences under sections 119, 120, 420 read with 120-B
of the Indian Penal Code, against Tourism Minister Mr. Dilip Parulekar, Mr.
Peter Martins, then attorney of Communidade of Serula and Mrs. Irene
Sequeira, then Administrator of Communidade of Bardez. The investigation
of the case was later transferred to the Crime Branch.

In the complaint Court’s attention was drawn that the 599 sq mt of prime
land on the Chogm Road at Porvorim was given away
to Dilip Parulekar without any auction and without following the procedure
contemplated under the Code of Communidade and that the whole intention was
to fraudulently facilitate the doling out to Dilip Parulekar prime
Communidade land.

The Communidade of Serula granted 599 sq. mts to Dilip Parulekar for a
mere Rs. 3,41,320/- though the value of the land was otherwise worth more
than a crore and that Dilip Parulekar in connivance with Peter Martins and
Irene Sequeira had grabbed that Communidade land at a throw away price by
illegal means.

Re: [Goanet] Is Anyone Surprised?

2016-08-10 Thread Roland
A seemingly good explanation, very well written by the article's author I must
admit and relevant to the Keralite mindset, for after all the plane was from
Trivandrum to Dubai and therefore filled with Keralites.

But his reasoning would scarcely apply to Gulf residents from other parts of
India whose thinking is not as skewed as the average Keralite he speaks of and
specially the ones who would opt for baggage over life.

Let me give you the mindset of the Goans in the Gulf for example.

Goans go to the Gulf for the same reasons as other people do, but the intense
greed for money that the Keralites have, is absent. Why that is so, springs
from many reasons: They know that if they remain in Goa, they will get by on
employment and survival. Not so for others. Goans are more loyal to employers
and do not endeavour to change jobs for a few bucks more. They make the best
of whichever spot they are in and it eventually works out for them.

Fewer Goans don't take their families than take them. They have a different
outlook on life and prefer to have a good life at the cost of making less
money. To the Keralite, specially the less educated ones, the objective of
making and saving money is supreme. Being alone in the Gulf is the best way to
do so. They will take the risk of their wives in Kerala going into depression
and having other psychological and marital problems, their children scarcely
knowing their father and a host of other problems that come with being absentee
heads of household, so that they can make extreme money to build an extreme
house back home in Kerala.

Because of these different mindsets, there is no 'Kafala fear' for Goans. If
Goans have to go, they go. They end up going to sea or work in some dead end
job in Goa. Or in today's world they will make a Portuguese passport and off to
Europe.

For Goans, life and living is way more important than a laptop or a bunch of
passports. We can blame the Portuguese for that mindset perhaps.

I do not mean to debase the Keralites in any way. Kafala fear or not, they are
hardworking and enterprising specially the Muslim lot among them (the Moplahs
from the Malabar
coast). They start off with a small neighbourhood grocery store and before you
know it they own a couple of large swanky department stores or supermarkets.
They pick up Arabic quickly and become trusted assistants to Shaikhs and other
important local businessmen often getting free visas from them and selling them
for large amounts or doing their other financial dirty work, enriching
themselves in the process. Many of them can probably buy the planes they travel
in, rather than push to retrieve baggage at the cost of their lives like the
less wealthy of them.

But the point, contrary to the article remains. If the Kafala fear, the fear of
Liberty and of human rights had been predominant in their minds, they would
have sent a telepathic message to their overhead bins. "Burn, baby burn".
