Dear all, In connection with Goa Sudharop's 2011 theme YEAR OF GOAN HERITAGE, we are organizing a Goan Youth convention in San Francisco (July 2-4, 2011) for Youth to discover their Goan connections.
One of the most exciting Goan events in recent memory is being planned and you are cordially invited. Our Youth group is organizing this Goan Youth Convention in San Francisco from July 2-4, 2011. There are few cities in the world as charming and inviting as San Francisco in summer. See http://www6.sfgov.org/index.aspx?page=5. San Francisco is a wonderful vacation getaway and Los Angeles (Disneyland/Universal Studios) is an hour's flight away in Southern California (6 hour drive, 600 kms). We promise you a memorable experience and welcome you from all four corners of the globe. The Convention is being organized by Youth and events/topics/presentations will cover ages 15-40, although all ages are invited as people to travel with family. We will have complete sign-up information shortly and already pre-announcement have about 30 youth signed up! Don't miss the excitement, we want to welcome you from Australia, from the UK, from Canada, from Europe, from Latin America, from Asia, and of course from Goa. We are considering the following for the convention (please email any other ideas, suggestions to Acaria at acariaalme...@yahoo.com): 1) Understanding Goan heritage. 2) Volunteering in Goa. 3) Connecting to Goa. 4) Partnering with Goa. 5) Provide resources for professional careers, entrepreneurship, job opportunities, internships, college admissions and volunteer activities (panels/workshops). 6) Mentoring. 7) Fashion-show. 8) Friendly debate on Youth topic. 9) Bay cruise around world famous Alcatraz island and Golden Gate bridge. 10) July 4th Picnic and fireworks. 11) Etc. Pre-convention - June 30 (Carmel/Monterey tour - OPTIONAL) Pre-convention - July 1 (Napa Valley wine tour - OPTIONAL) Thanks to generous individual donors, this convention will be heavily subsidized (about $100 per person). You are separately responsible for your travel, hotel costs and any other optional tours and expenses.
