To Goanet - Reading Freddy Agnelo Fernandes' observation that everyone seems to know what's good for Goa except Goans themselves reminded me of my own chance encounters within the last 3-4 days with a couple of guys (Indians) who are visiting Goa. They have these pies in the sky for Goa and they are here in Goa to sell them to Goan suckers. The problem is, Goa was doing just fine without all these Indian 'ideas.' (note the quotes) These aren't quality entrepreneurs I am talking about. These guys are what I would call 'operators.'
The opening gambit is flattery - and the whole world knows that it is extremely easy to flatter a Goan - about how Goa and Goans are great, this that and the other. My question to them is almost always, why don't you go and pitch this super idea to your own hometown or state? Don't you want to improve your own place? Why this love for Goa, dude? After this little conversation the guy's enthusiasm evaporates. No matter, he will soon find a Goan toad to carry his water. r --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
