Quite rightly, as you have observed, the Google App Script 
<https://developers.google.com/apps-script/>can be used to create Add-ons 
that can manipulate contents of a Google Document within the G Suite 
platform.

Also, I can confirm that your application deployed to the Google Cloud 
Platform can work well with the Google App Script. One of the available 
APIs on the Google Cloud Platform is the Google  
<https://developers.google.com/apps-script/api/>App Script API 
<https://developers.google.com/apps-script/api/>, which can easily be 
enabled through the API&Services 
<https://cloud.google.com/apis/docs/overview> on the Google Cloud Platform 
and used on your Application code or using the Client Libraries 
<https://cloud.google.com/apis/docs/client-libraries-explained>.
