Do you have the source code for the version of JSF you're using? A quick
look at 
1.1.4<http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en&sa=N&cd=2&ct=rc#k7e2Oio8pzY/myfaces-core-1.1.4/source/javax/faces/component/UIComponentBase.java&q=javax.faces.component.UIComponentBase%20processRestoreState>doesn't
show a cast to Object[][]. Also, what binary of JSF are you
deploying with?
