It is recommended to use the new Gcloud SDK <https://cloud.google.com/sdk/> to deploy your App Engine applications as per the documentations <https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python/tools/uploadinganapp#deploying_an_app>. Just ensure that your app.yaml configuration file <https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python/config/appref#syntax> is using the latest syntax.
