Webapp2 is now an Open Source project maintained on Github <https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/webapp2>. The community has already added support for Python 3 as per the git report here <https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/webapp2/pull/117>. The Google Cloud App Engine Standard team is also working hard on supporting new runtime versions, and Python 3 is definitely on the list (currently there is no ETA). Note that you can already use Python 3 on App Engine Flexible <https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/python/>.
