I've given it a week and the project is still orphaned. My profile page shows I own it , but the project shows it's owned by my Yahoo email address which I can't log on to because , according to Google, the account doesn't exist. I have four projects on Google code, all originally created by my tiscali email account, so the account definitely exists. I also use it for my Nexus 7 and Youtube..I can't change my email address until this is resolved.
