As of GWT 2.0 you should use 
ClientBundle: 
http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/webtoolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideClientBundle.html

If you really have to use ImageBundle from GWT 1.6/1.7 you only have to use 
the @gwt.resource tag if the filename does not match the method name or if 
the image is in a different path. If your ImageBundle is 
com.example.bundles.MyImageBundle but your images are stored in 
com.example.bundles.images then you would add @gwt.resource 
com/example/bundles/images/my_image.png
