I was working on this issue for the company I work for and I came up
with a few leads.  I've been pulled off the project for now to go on
to other priorities.  But here is a brain dump of what I had so far

1.  Use the DETAILED switch for generated javascript to make it easier
for HTMLUnit to test since the generated JS will be easier to read and
parse (http://code.google.com/docreader/#p=google-web-toolkit-
doc-1-5&s=google-web-toolkit-doc-1-5&t=FAQ_JavaScriptGibberish)
2.  run GWTTestCases in hosted mode in multiple threads and unit test
as a load test
3.  Write simple web applications that just test single RPC calls
using an html form with widgets and then pound on those with htmlunit
