Hi Kathy,
The archive.jab.org site has only been around for a couple weeks, and I'm still trying to get a feel as to how popular it will be. Go ahead and use it; but it is still too early to provide definitive answers to your questions. Here's the situation right now: * The defacto place for these types of questions is the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list. It is archived at http:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * There are no quality of service guarantees; Please don't sue me if something goes wrong. Likewise, don't rely on this service for life or death situations. * If there is enough demand maybe I can provide guarantees at some future date. I expect the service to be very reliable; but have no track record yet. * Mail archives are not being backed up at this time; a disk failure will wipe out information. Messages will be backed up starting about two weeks from now. * It's too early to state how long archives will be kept. My guess is two years is a pretty safe bet, indefinitely is a possibility, and I have no current plans to erase stuff. * The service might be extended where I can cut CD's on demand for people who want their own copies. * A 150 posting per day mailing list is no problem. I really don't know what my scalability limits are yet, nor have I done any performance profiling yet. However performance isn't remotely close to being an issue (yet) and I should be able to expand capacity as necessary. * Storage capacity will be bumped up to about 14 gig in about two weeks which will happily hold the next million messages redundantly. Cheers, Jeff ------------ original message follows ----------- Hi Jeff :) I went to your site and I have some questions for you :) First how long do you keep the archives? Do you handle high volume list? I have a high volume list and we average approx. 150 postings a day. And much higher when there is a trial going on. I am interested in having you archive my list yet I would like these questions answered if possible. I'm also CCing my assistant Ed on this message for his info. Thank-you for any help
