This is only the case in gpxelinux. The default for gPXE is still 0.
gpxelinux.0 executes a gPXE script. The script is located at
syslinux/gpxe/pxelinux.gpxe
The script contains the line 'set use-cached 1' for newer syslinux
releases. You can edit the script to suit your needs and rebuild
gpxelinux.0
