This might be a good moment to re-vamp the legal issue regarding the
EPSG license that was raised in Fedora and is blocking the upgrade of
libgeotiff:

it would be cool if r.proj learned to reproject entire groups (think
Landsat8 scene).
A challenge might be to maintain the different resolutions.
