AFAICT, the binaries I am compiling under Mavericks work with El Capitan IF you
turn off System Integrity Protection (to get to the same level of security
available in Mavericks).
I have not yet updated to El Capitan because I'm hoping someone can tell me if
they can compile GRASS with it. I do

Right, forgot about that part in make (even though I pointed it out previously).
Yeah, that would be messy - it would have to compile with the temporary path,
then use install_name_tool at install to change all the paths. This is where I
got stalled with figuring out loops and lists of modules
