Sort of what I suspected. So the code is not really "broken". But we’re trying
to have it work cross platform.

Does anyone know if PIL actually works with libjpeg 9? PIL has not been updated
in a while and has an official dependency of libjeg 8. I’d like to use libjep 9
for compatibility with the newest stable wxPython (4.0.2 instead of 4.0.0).
