I think that any 8.4.x is probably OK. I believe that we're using 8.4.16.

There have been problems reported using 8.5 on Windows and Mac. These
are probably solvable, but I don't think they've been solved.
Depending on how the wxPython GUI moves along, they might not be
solved. I'd stick with 8.4 for now.
