I had the same problem with r.sim.water when using the windows version of
GRASS, but under Linux everything works fine!

I suppose this must be related to ticket 617
(http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/617). Guess I'll have to switch to
Linux if I want to work with it now.
