Correct. That assumes that the bands are limited to 256 levels. If you have more than that, it is impossible to generate a composite image without losing precision, as r.composite doesn't allow more than 256 levels. There isn't really much point; the only reason for generating a composite image is for display. Re: [GRASS-user] using ArcView data
Buenos días Manuel, Well, first just define your GRASS location to match the extent of your shapefile. Second, if you use the graphical interface (in GRASS 6.3) just go to: "File -> Import Vector Map -> Multiple formats using OGR". Specify your shapefile at "OGR datasource..." and set a name for your layer (to be used in GRASS). A good choice is also set "Override dataset projection" (to use location's projection). In the terminal the command line may be similar to this: v.in.ogr -o dsn=/home/poseidon/Work/vector_data/CNTRY94.SHP output=my_map min_area=0.0001 snap=-1 Cheers, Christian Poseidon Linux team http://sites.google.com/site/poseidonlinux/ On Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 8:24 PM, Manuel Gerardo Chávez Angeles <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Hello from Mexico City, > > I'm new using GRASS, migrating from a limited expertise on arcView. > > I have a human population database from Spain, built for ArcView. Also, I run this commands for Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Arizona and Oregon. Somehow, the label size in Alabama and Louisiana are same, but bigger than the labels in the rest of states. Also, I tested different fontsize and size (i.e. 20), but the result stayed same way that the label size is bigger in Alabama and Louisiana than other rest of the states. size is in map units, so the actual display size will depend on scale (i.e. level of zoom), so displaying smaller states (with zoom to selected map) should give you bigger labels. fontsize is in points and thus should not change with zoom level. [GRASS-user] Open Jump User survey : OSGeo India
Hi All, at OSGeo the Indian chapter Open Jump is the most used and evangelised software along with GRASS GIS. 1. It is used as a GIS that can be spread to the beginner and expert alike. 2. We have a mock exercise 'Locating a site for a Nuclear power plant', using a set of layers, which endears GIS to the user. 3. Project with OpenJUMP: For the parliamentary constituency of Rajahmundry we have used GRASS, OpenJUMP and ILWIS extensively. This is going to be presented at FOSS4G 2008. 4. OpenJUMP + PostGIS For Geologists we teach 'Mineral Prognostication', with Mock Exercise data which has become very popular. 5. OpenJUMP + Inkscape For Geologists to make cartographic outputs acceptable in standard formats. Thanks to the 'Vertex symbols plugin' and Printer plugin.. OpenJUMP is THE GIS for Geological maps. Mock Exercises: Soon would like to add the mock exercises freely down loadable.
