Dear all,
I am looking for some GIS softwares for PDA (with GPS tracking).
The tool should provide following futures.
1. Provide standard GIS support such as display, overlay, custom draw and
management.
2. Provide situation awareness using standard mapping and icons.
3. Track the individual

This is a very small file.
There is a bit in lib/init/init.sh that sets that, but the ability to
change to $TMPDIR istead of /tmp/ has been commented out. (som
Hi,
Not entirely a GRASS question but I'm hoping someone can point me to
the right direction
I was given thousands (literally!) of topo images in either jpg or
bmp. My task is to create an indexed raster for viewing in either
GRASS or QGIS via WMS.
The problem: all files do not have a world fil

What OS are you on? It looks to me like it uses
/grass6-- so on my linux box it's under /tmp/grass6-...
So you can edit to change the $tmp variable

Ted,
I notice that the grass63.bat file does not show complete paths for all
functions. Do full paths have to be substituted by the user? For example
rem Directory where your .grassrc6 file will be stored
set HOME=c:\home
rem Name of the wish (Tk) executable
set GRASS_WISH=C:\grass\tcl-tk\bi
Thanks for the reply. I have tried both options without success.

Hi Ted,
Downloaded the current wingrass-6.3.0-4 setup. No problem with starting
the msys console or the command line, but the 6.3.0 gui fails to open
the gis manager, producing the following error "gm: errmsg"
if {[catch {set env(gisbase)[exec g.gisenv get=gisbase]}error
c:/gtrass/etc/gm/gm.t
Windows XP
I had no problem with Wingrass-6.3.cvs

Hi all,
just to say that inkscape can import Sketch files (.sk extension) and
these can be derived from a ps.map .ps output by pstoedit.
->$ pstoedit -f sk file.ps file.sk
->$ inkscape file.sk
hope it helps

Yes, with ps2pdf the combination Grass/Inkscape works great...
By the way (perhaps off subject, but it may be interesting for those who
can't give up with Illustrator) : Inkscape 0.46 now handles transparency
between layers. In the past it was not implemented which was a big
limitation for clean g
