Excellent.
BTW: The upcoming 7.0.2 version contains a fix to generate the font
list at install time.

Re: [GRASS-user] v.extrude - keeping attribute table?

2015-11-04 Thread Jon Sundquist
I would add I am running Grass 6.4.4

I just noticed the v.extrude manual for Grass 7.0 adds this additional
information:

"v.extrude modifies only features geometry. Feature categories
remain untouched and attribute data is copied from input vector map
to the output."

Perhaps this functionality was added with 7.0?  Or is it the case that
just the manual was updated?

Regardless, I will try updating to 7.

[GRASS-user] GRASS g.gui.animation: change resolution and add text

2015-11-04 Thread Dalmo1991
I'm using the comand "g.gui.animation" in GRASS 7.0 to plot some raster maps
(with no time information) that represent the timing evolution of a physical
experiment.

In detail, I'm using the instruction "g.gui.animation raster=map1,map2,map3"
and then I change the parameters using the graphic interface.I export the
result as a GIF animated image.

It works, but I have two questions about how to improve the quality:

1) Can I set the resolution (number of pixels) of the output?

2) I'd like to add some text (that change during the animation according
with the frames) somewhere in the image, like the number of the frame. Can I
do it with GRASS or I have to use other software (some advice?) in
postprocessing? I need to read the text information from a .txt because I
have a lot of frames, so it's almost impossible to do it manually.
Thanks for your help.

[GRASS-user] what are acceptable smoothing values in v.surf.rst

2015-11-04 Thread Michael Barton
We’re having trouble figuring out what range of values can be used as a
smoothing parameter, especially when input from a map of smoothing values. What
is the acceptable or functional range? How does smoothing affect a value in a
cell?

The case that brought this up is one of my students doing a temporal surface
interpolated from radiocarbon dates across the western Mediterranean. He’d like
to use a value related to the SD of the dates (maybe the CV) to smooth this
temporal surface so that smaller SD’s have the surface more closely matching
each known date and higher SDs let that surface respond more to the neighboring
dates.
