[GRASS-user] Topography shading in irradiance

2021-08-11 Thread Robson Passos
Dear,

I have irradiance data from the WRF meteorological model, the data is with
3 km resolution, first I need to refine it to 1 km resolution and then
calculate the irradiance loss due to the shading of the terrain.

Is there a tool that does this in GRASS? I would like to use an irradiance
raster as input and know the influence of topography on shading, similar to
what is presented in the solar potential atlases.

If you can clarify this for me I would appreciate it.

Thank you very much in advance,
Robson

Re: [GRASS-user] Error in installing r.futures addons in Pop!_OS 20.04

2021-08-11 Thread Firman Hadi via grass-user
Dear Veronica,

Thank you very much for the information.
I use GRASS 7.8.5 provided by QGIS Ubuntu hirsute repository.
It is Ubuntu 21.04, not 20.04 as I have informed earlier.
I have upgraded to 7.8.5-1 from QGIS unstable repo, but since it's not GRASS
7.8.6.RC2, I can't install any add-ons.
I will just wait for the stable release.

Thanks.
Firman Hadi

Re: [GRASS-user] Error in installing r.futures addons in Pop!_OS 20.04

2021-08-11 Thread Veronica Andreo
Dear Firman,

What GRASS version are you using? g.extension is currently failing for
GRASS 7.8.5. See
https://grass.osgeo.org/news/2021_08_01_g_extension_currently_not_working/
for an explanation and options.

We released yesterday the second RC for grass 7.8.6 where this problem
should be fixed: https://github.com/OSGeo/grass/releases/tag/7.8.6RC2

Best regards,
Vero

If what you have is a long list of cat values, try the 'file' option of
v.extract.

[GRASS-user] v.extract fails for long strings in sql where or cat

2021-08-11 Thread Mira Kattwinkel

Dear list,

is there a max length in the where statement for v.extract?

I want to extract many line features depending on the value of an id
field and get:

"[Errno 7] Argument list too long: 'v.extract'" when I run v.extract
with a long sql statement.

It works if I use id < 7, hence the number of extracted items is not
the problem. However, this does not help because I need a selection like
"id in (1,5,7,...,7)". Similarly, cat = 1-7 works but cat =
1,2,3,,7 does not.

I found an old posting about this
(https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/grass-user/2010-January/054361.html)
and wonder if anything has changed since then and if there is any work
around if not.

I am running GRASS 7.8.5 on Linux Mint 19.

Thanks a lot,

Mira
