the arc "adf" type files
i've imported have had filenames like w001001.adf and that is what
i've specified when using r.in.gdal and it has worked, however i
also have in the same directory a hdr.adf file and i think if that
file is missing it gives me an error.
Hi Hamish,
I like your r.reclass solution. Just wondering, you say it is a
"virtual" map, and easy to remove. How is it virtual? When I use it I
get a new map in my raster list that doesn't seem to go away so it
seems permanent to me. Although I don't understand the underlying
storage
Hi Marcello,
Thanks for this response! After my post I also figured out exactly
this method for doing it as well, although as you say would be great to
have a one-liner.
I will probably just write a little script that performs all these
steps and takes in the relevant vector, cat, and raster
Hello,
I have a raster map (dem) and I want to select a region of the raster
corresponding to a polygon that is in a vector map. What is the best
way to do this? It looks like r.in.poly might be along the lines of
what I need but in that case I think I would need to generate the ascii
poly
Hi Maris,
Thanks for the reply! Too bad. I guess I'll have to install on a 32bit
system. For what it's worth my system is Slackware 13.0 64bit and also
Nvidia driver, so nothing really new to add to the bug report other
than the variance in linux distribution.
Any speculation where this bug
es and thys any help is wecomed.
Maris.

Hello,
I'm trying to display trees on my raster dem using v.trees3d and a
raster layer which gives me the number of trees in every 400x400m cell.
What I'm trying to do is create a point vector map that would have a
random distribution of points in every 400x400m based on my volume of
trees
