Meet the new Cabinet of Ministers<http://www.nepalnews.com/index.php/top-story/31462-meet-the-new-cabinet-of-ministers> Published on Tuesday, 25 February 2014 12:05 Two weeks after being elected the prime minister of the country, Sushil Koirala has finally formed his cabinet of ministers today. Prime Minister Koirala administered the oath of secrecy to new NC and UML ministers in presence of President Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas on Tuesday evening. NC leader Ram Sharan Mahat, who had already taken his oath along with the prime minister two weeks ago, was given his ministerial responsibilities. Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were tied in internal discussion since Sunday to finalise the list of candidates to take ten ministerial positions each. Although cabinet formation was expected to take place on Monday evening, the two parties could not complete their list. Discussions began early today and NC and CPN-UML finally completed their nominations. RPP and CPN-ML will also head a ministry each, but have not been sworn in yet. CPN-UML had supported Sushil Koirala's candidacy in the election for the prime minister after a seven-point agreement between the two parties. However, UML refused to join the government, claiming that NC had backtracked from its promises, including provided Ministry of Home Affairs to the part. Government formation became possible only after Koirala decided to offer Ministry of Home Affairs to UML. *Ministries* *Ministers* *Party* Agriculture Hari Prasad Parajuli CPN-UML Communication and Information Minendra Rijal NC Education Chitra Lekha Yadav NC Energy Radha Gyawali CPN-UML Finance Ram Sharan Mahat NC Foreign Affairs Mahendra Pandey CPN-UML Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya NC General Administration Lal Babu Pandit CPN-UML Health & Population Khagraj Adhikari CPN-UML Home Affairs/ Deputy PM Bam Dev Gautam CPN-UML Industry Karna Bahadur Thapa CPN-UML Irrigation NP Saud NC Labour and Employment Tekraj Gurung (State) NC Land Reforms and Management Dal Bahadur Rana CPN-UML Law, Justice, CA & Parliamentary Affairs Narahari Acharya NC Local Development/ Deputy PM Prakash Man Singh NC Physical Infrastructure and Transportation Bimalendra Nidhi NC Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Prasad Acharya CPN-UML Urban Development Narayan Khadka NC Youth and Sports Purshottam Poudel CPN-UML Sunil ThapaRPP Sita Khadka CPN-ML Science, Technology & Environment Defense Peace and Reconstruction Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Women, Children and Social Affairs Commerce and Supplies Labour and Employment II. http://www.nepalnews.com/index.php/news/31464-un-secy-general-ban-congratulates-pm-koirala UN Secy General Ban congratulates PM Koirala<http://www.nepalnews.com/index.php/news/31464-un-secy-general-ban-congratulates-pm-koirala> Published on Tuesday, 25 February 2014 12:08 UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said he is encouraged by the pledge Prime Minister Sushil Koirala made to the Constituent Assembly to complete the constitution drafting process on the basis of cross-party consensus within a year.
