  On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, clamav-daemon was upgraded 0.99.4+addedllvm-

  daemon fails to restart:

  The regression seems to have been introduced upstream: 0.99.4 supports 
StatsEnabled and related options in clamd.conf, whereas 0.100.0 dropped support 
for those directives.  See 
https://github.com/Cisco-Talos/clamav-devel/commit/16bd67 .

  /etc/clamav/clamd.conf could be regenerated programmatically, but that
  was not automatically done as part of the upgrade.  I'm filing this as
  an Ubuntu bug because a security upgrade should never cause a
  production server to break, and because USN 3722-1 never mentions the
  possibility of such breakage.

as pointed out in https://golang.org/issue/26567, the go tool doesn't
find it's library, installed in a path which has only the major version
as a path component, but not the complete version, and gcc -dumpversion
prints 6.0.0.  Solution here is to just provide an additional symlink
6.x.y to 6. Don't change the output of gcc -dumpversion.

Properly fixed in GCC 7 and GCC 8.

  kdump works fine on arm64 these days, but end users have to manually install 
the various packages to make it work vs. just installing linux-crashdump like 
on other architectures.

  Add the necessary debian/control bits to build this package on arm64.

  [Regression Risk]
  We're making a package available on arm64 that wasn't previously - if that 
package is broken for some reason, it won't be a regression.

  Isolated change to lscpu min/max CPU frequency output, so the worst that 
could happen is that it fails to work elsewhere.

  1. Clone https://github.com/open-power/op-test-framework
  2. Run this command to GUARD the cpu.

  [Impact]
  lscpu prior to 2.32 does not correctly check for NULL members in min/max CPU 
frequency arrays and can call atof() on them, leading to crashes. It seems 
that's what caused the verification to fail for bug 1732865. The following 
fixes have been committed upstream:

  from 2.32: https://github.com/karelzak/util-
  linux/commit/95f09bc63c564c50ec2c393352801cc056faaea2

  I plan to backport them to xenial (both patches); and artful, bionic
  (second patch, they are > 2.30).

  [Regression potential]
  The worst possible regression is that lscpu would fail to correctly report 
min/max frequencies, but it seems unlikely, as we're only adding checks against 
null pointers / move an atof into a loop.

  [Test case]
  Extract attached segvtest.tar.gz and run lscpu -s segvtest and check that it 
does not crash (this removes min mhz file for cpu #0 for testing).

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Initramfs for MODULES=most should build with all microcodes installed

  [Test case]
  Have both amd64-microcode and intel-microcode installed, and MODULES=most 
set. Test generated initramfs in both amd64 and intel machines and make sure 
the microcodes load.

  If that's not feasible, we should at least run update-initramfs with
  -v and ensure that it says the right things:

  I: amd64-microcode: installing AMD64 microcode into the early initramfs...
  
  intel-microcode: adding microcode for either all or selected Intel processor 
models
  [long list of microcodes]

  
  [Regression potential]
  Some tools will fail to understand the initramfs, as it now has two cpio 
archives prepended (e.g. lsinitramfs skips intel microcode archive, as seen in 
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=886424)

  lscpu fails to list CPU max and min frequencies if some CPUs are guarded.

  [Regression potential]
  Isolated change to lscpu min/max CPU frequency output, so the worst that 
could happen is that it fails to work elsewhere.

  [Test case]
  1. Clone https://github.com/open-power/op-test-framework
  2. Run this command to GUARD the cpu.
  ./op-test --bmc-type FSP --bmc-ip $FSPIP --bmc-username dev --bmc-password 
FipSdev --host-ip $HOSTIP --host-user root --host-password passw0rd --ffdcdir 
test-reports/ --run testcases.OpTestHMIHandling.MalfunctionAlert
  3. Repeat again, so that multiple CPUs are guarded.
  4. Run lscpu
  5. Observe that no CPU frequencies are displayed:

  6. Install util-linux from -proposed.
  7. Run lscpu again
  8. Observe that max and min CPU frequencies are correctly displayed.

  [Impact]
  When a C++ exception is thrown with libunwind linked in, the signal mask is 
corrupted.

  For MongoDB, if the CPU profiler is enabled (which requires linking
  libunwind), any exception that is raised within the server may cause
  random signals to become unblocked on a thread.  If SIGTERM becomes
  unblocked on any thread but the main thread, the server won't exit
  cleanly (this is particularly evident when running the MongoDB test
  suite, which starts/stops servers repeatedly).

   * Backport Debian fix for a crash in byobu due to libslang2

   * byobu-screen
   * in there hit F9 or start byobu-config
   * without the fix this crashes

  [Regression Potential]

   * This is changing a libs implementation and
  $ reverse-depends src:slang2 -r xenial
 is quite a long list. OTOH this is somewhat ok as the change is in 
 Debian and Ubuntu for more than three releases now and nothing around 
 it seems to have totally broken.
 Never the less the biggest risk I see is something unexpected in one of 
 the other libslang2 users.

  When running byobu with the screen backend byobu-config segfaults when
  trying to open it by pressing F9.

  Steps to reproduce.

  1. Configure byobu to use screen for the backend
  2. Press F9 to open the configuration menu
  3. The console flashes then returns to your shell window.

  Running byobu-config manually within a byobu screen session shows it's
  segfaulting. It does not crash running it outside of screen.

   * backport upstream fix to avoid double unmounts (e.g. bind mounts)
     hanging the freeze action.

  [Test Case]

   * Prepare a guest
     $ uvt-simplestreams-libvirt --verbose sync --source 
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/daily arch=amd64 release=xenial label=daily
  uvt-kvm create --password ubuntu x-freeze arch=amd64 release=xenial 
label=daily

   * Shut it down and use virsh edit to add a channel for the agent. Add this 
somewhere under :
  
     
     
  

    * Start the guest again, in it install qemu-guest-agent

    *

    * On the Host then freeze and thaw the guest
  $ virsh domfsfreeze x-freeze
  $ virsh domfsthaw x-freeze

    # The above works, then trigger the issue, in the guest do
  $ sudo mkdir /mnt/test
  $ sudo mount -o bind / /mnt/test/

    * Now the freeze/thaw will fail unless the fix is applied to the
  guest.

  [Regression Potential]

   * From looking at the code alone I could think of a different cause that
     makes it return EBUSY.
     The biggest risk I could see due to that is the agent reporting a
     successful freeze due to accepting EBUSY which is not actually true.
     But we have that in Ubuntu since Artful and
     upstream since January 2017 and there are no such reports.

  Having two mounts of the same device makes fsfreeze through qemu-ga 
impossible.
  root@CmsrvMTA:/# mount -l | grep /dev/vda2
  /dev/vda2 on / type btrfs (rw,relatime,space_cache,subvolid=257,subvol=/@)
  /dev/vda2 on /home type btrfs 
(rw,relatime,space_cache,subvolid=258,subvol=/@home)

  Having two mounts is rather common with btrfs, so the feature fsfreeze
  is unusable on these systems.

  Below more information about how we encountered this issue...

  Message send to qemu-disc...@nongnu.org:

  Message 1:

  I use external snapshots to backup my guests. I use the 'quiesce' option to 
flush and frees the guest file system with the qemu guest agent.

  With the exeption of one guest, this procedure works fine. On the 'unwilling' 
guest, I get this error message:
  "ERROR 2016-05-25 00:51:19 | T25-bakVMSCmsrvVH2 | fout: internal error: 
unable to execute QEMU agent command 'guest-fsfreeze-freeze': failed to freeze 
/: Device or resource busy"

  I don't think this is not some sort of time-out error, because
  activation of the fsfreeze and the error message happen immediately
  after each other:

  $ grep qemu-ga syslog.1
  May 25 00:51:19 CmsrvMTA qemu-ga: info: guest-fsfreeze called

  This is the only entry of the qemu guest agent in syslog.

  $ sudo virsh version

  $ virsh snapshot-create-as --domain CmsrvMTA sn1 --disk-only --atomic 
--quiesce --no-metadata --diskspec vda,file=/srv/poolVMS/CmsrvMTA.sn1

  I have encountered this before. Some operating systems
   may have bind-mounts that let a device appear multiple times in the mount 
list. Unfortunately the guest agent is not smart enough to consider a device 
that has been frozen as succesfull and keep going. This causes this specific 
error.

  I’ve got the ‘/’ and ‘/home’ on the same device formatted as btrfs on
  two separate sub volumes.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  The command "ipmitool mc info" fails to recognize the Manufacturer ID for 
NVIDIA BMCs, causing it to report:

  Manufacturer Name : Unknown

  [Test Case]
  On an NVIDIA system, such as a DGX-1 system, run "sudo ipmitool mc info" and 
look for:

  Manufacturer Name : NVIDIA Corporation

  [Regression Risk]
  Adds a static entry to a lookup table. The biggest regression risk I see is 
if there are BMCs out there using NVIDIA's registered ID that aren't actually 
NVIDIA BMCs - ipmitool would now be reporting them incorrectly.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  This is the same issue reported in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/neutron/+bug/1731595, however that is
  marked as 'Fix Released' and the issue is still occurring and I can't
  change back to 'New' so it seems best to just open a new bug.

  It seems as if this bug surfaces due to load issues. While the fix
  provided by Venkata in https://bugs.launchpad.net/neutron/+bug/1731595
  (https://review.openstack.org/#/c/522641/) should help clean things up
  at the time of l3 agent restart, issues seem to come back later down
  the line in some circumstances. xavpaice mentioned he saw multiple
  routers active at the same time when they had 464 routers configured
  on 3 neutron gateway hosts using L3HA, and each router was scheduled
  to all 3 hosts. However, jhebden mentions that things seem stable at
  the 400 L3HA router mark, and it's worth noting this is the same
  deployment that xavpaice was referring to.

  keepalived has a patch upstream in 1.4.0 that provides a fix for
  removing left-over addresses if keepalived aborts. That patch will be
  cherry-picked to Ubuntu keepalived packages.

  [Test Case]
  The following SRU process will be followed:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStackUpdates

  In order to avoid regression of existing consumers, the OpenStack team
  will run their continuous integration test against the packages that
  are in -proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be
  required before the proposed packages can be let into -updates.

  The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary
  of the executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark
  ‘verification-done’ until this has happened.

  [Regression Potential]
  The regression potential is lowered as the fix is cherry-picked without 
change from upstream. In order to mitigate the regression potential, the 
results of the aforementioned tests are attached to this bug.

  Initramfs for MODULES=most should build with all microcodes installed

  [Test case]
  Have both amd64-microcode and intel-microcode installed, and MODULES=most 
set. Test generated initramfs in both amd64 and intel machines and make sure 
the microcodes load.

  If that's not feasible, we should at least run update-initramfs with
  -v and ensure that it says the right things:

  I: amd64-microcode: installing AMD64 microcode into the early initramfs...
  
  intel-microcode: adding microcode for either all or selected Intel processor 
models
  [long list of microcodes]

  
  [Regression potential]
  Some tools will fail to understand the initramfs, as it now has two cpio 
archives prepended (e.g. lsinitramfs skips intel microcode archive, as seen in 
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=886424)

  Customer report a Ubuntu kernel issue related to Intel BDX Core numbers 
setting

  We have reproduced this issue on 17.10 release.

  With latest kernel, this issue disappears.

  now we bisect this issue is fixed by commit 947134d9b00f
  (“x86/smpboot: Do not use smp_num_siblings in __max_logical_packages
  calculation”) which was merged in v4.15-rc4.

  But after applying this commit to Ubuntu 16.04.3 kernel v4.13 code
  base or Linux upstream mainline kernel v4.13 code base, this issue
  still exists.

  Target Release: 16.04 / 17.10
