[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1838323] Proposed package removed from archive

2020-05-14 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
The version of unicode-data in the proposed pocket of Bionic that was
purported to fix this bug report has been removed because one or more
bugs that were to be fixed by the upload have failed verification and
been in this state for more than 10 days.

** Changed in: unicode-data (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Status: Fix Committed => Won't Fix

Title:
  Support Japanese new era "令和 (Reiwa)"

Status in unicode-data package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in unicode-data source package in Xenial:
  Won't Fix
Status in unicode-data source package in Bionic:
  Won't Fix
Status in unicode-data source package in Disco:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  [Background]
  Many packages are affected by the requirement to support the new era "Reiwa"
(令和)

  This is the meta bug to track packages that need fixes; which packages
  have already been SRUd to previous releases, how to prioritize the
  work needed, and general test cases for verifying that things are
  working as expected.

  [Impact]
  Users who run Ubuntu in Japanese.

  [Test cases]

  Unicode data include REIWA like it includes HEISEI. Reverse-build-
  depends need a rebuild to include the new data, followed by the
  following tests to make sure the data is taken into account.

  1) Rebuild reverse-depends of unicode-data; check that they build fine
  (ie. no regressions due to unicode-data changes):

  Reverse-Build-Depends
  =
  * console-data
  * courier-unicode
  * cyrus-imapd
  * fntsample
  * fonttools
  * gucharmap
  * ibus
  * julia
  * libxmlada
  * node-unicode-data
  * node-unicode-property-aliases
  * node-unicode-property-aliases-ecmascript
  * node-unicode-property-value-aliases
  * node-unicode-property-value-aliases-ecmascript
  * node-unicode-tr51
  * re2
  * safeclib
  * slang2
  * utf8proc
  * wcwidth
  * wine
  * wine-development

  2) Using gucharmap, verify that the SQUARE ERA NAME REIWA glyph point exists
(there may not be a glyph associated as that is font-dependent.

  == Character maps / font support ==

  1) Search for character "SQUARE ERA NAME"
  2) Verify that the results include at least "SQUARE ERA NAME HEISEI" and
"SQUARE ERA NAME REIWA" (there should also be Syouwa, Taisyou and Meizi), and
that the glyphs are readable:

   - SQUARE ERA NAME HEISEI: ㍻
   - SQUARE ERA NAME REIWA: 令和 (in a single glyph)

  Display of the Reiwa square glyph is font-specific; it may show simply
  as a empty square or a square with hex characters. If that is the
  case, the unicode data supports the new character, but the selected
  font does not include the new glyph. Use fonts-noto-cjk to display the
  glyph.

  [Regression potential]
  This is a potentially large change as it impacts font display, character sets
as well as date conversions. As such, extreme care should be taken to ensure
that regressions are avoided, such that dates previous to May 1, 2019 continue
to display as before, and dates onward are displayed with the new era symbols.
The included test cases account for verifying the continued behavior or
previous dates.

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1815101] Re: [master] Restarting systemd-networkd breaks keepalived, heartbeat, corosync, pacemaker (interface aliases are restarted)

2020-05-14 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
@napsty: the "workaround" (from your blog) is actually to use:

- ifupdown/bridge-utils/vlan/resolvconf for network setup OR
- use systemd-networkd DIRECTLY with the KeepConfiguration= option in .network
file

Just highlighting it here.

@ddstreet, you said you would try to come up with the netplan change for
KeepConfiguration. Did you have time to check on this ? (just checking).

Cheers o/

Bug description:
  [impact]

  - ALL related HA software has a small problem if interfaces are being
  managed by systemd-networkd: nic restarts/reconfigs are always going
  to wipe all interfaces aliases when HA software is not expecting it to
  (no coordination between them.

  - keepalived, smb ctdb, pacemaker, all suffer from this. Pacemaker is
  smarter in this case because it has a service monitor that will
  restart the virtual IP resource, in affected node & nic, before
  considering a real failure, but other HA service might consider a real
  failure when it is not.

  [test case]

  - comment #14 is a full test case: to have 3 node pacemaker, in that
  example, and cause a networkd service restart: it will trigger a
  failure for the virtual IP resource monitor.

  - other example is given in the original description for keepalived.
  both suffer from the same issue (and other HA softwares as well).

  [regression potential]

  - this backports KeepConfiguration parameter, which adds some
  significant complexity to networkd's configuration and behavior, which
  could lead to regressions in correctly configuring the network at
  networkd start, or incorrectly maintaining configuration at networkd
  restart, or losing network state at networkd stop.

  - Any regressions are most likely to occur during networkd start,
  restart, or stop, and most likely to involve missing or incorrect ip
  address(es).

  - the change is based in upstream patches adding the exact feature we

Bug description:
  The startup timeouts were recently adjusted and synchronized between
  the SysV and systemd startup files.

  https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server-release/pull/129

  The new startup files should be included in this package.

  [Impact]

  After starting the RabbitMQ server process, the startup script will
  wait for the server to start by calling `rabbitmqctl wait` and will
  time out after 10 s.

  The startup time of the server depends on how quickly the Mnesia
  database becomes available and the server will time out after
  `mnesia_table_loading_retry_timeout` ms times
  `mnesia_table_loading_retry_limit` retries. By default this wait is
  30,000 ms times 10 retries, i.e. 300 s.

  The mismatch between these two timeout values might lead to the
  startup script failing prematurely while the server is still waiting
  for the Mnesia tables.

  This change introduces variable `RABBITMQ_STARTUP_TIMEOUT` and the
  `--timeout` option into the startup script. The default value for this
  timeout is set to 10 minutes (600 seconds).

  This change also updates the systemd service file to match the timeout
  values between the two service management methods.

  [Scope]

  Upstream patch: https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server-
  release/pull/129

  * Fix is not included in the Debian package
  * Fix is not included in any Ubuntu series

  * Groovy and Focal can apply the upstream patch as is
  * Bionic and Xenial need an additional fix in the systemd service file
to set the `RABBITMQ_STARTUP_TIMEOUT` variable for the
`rabbitmq-server-wait` helper script.

  [Test Case]

  In a clustered setup with two nodes, A and B.

  1. create queue on A
  2. shut down B
  3. shut down A
  4. boot B

  The broker on B will wait for A. The systemd service will wait for 10
  seconds and then fail. Boot A and the rabbitmq-server process on B
  will complete startup.

  [Regression Potential]

  This change alters the behavior of the startup scripts when the Mnesia
  database takes long to become available. This might lead to failures
  further down the service dependency chain.
