Bug description:
  [Impact]

Chromium and Google Chrome use "Thin" as the default Noto Sans CJK
font weight, which makes some Chinese and Japanese web pages difficult
to read, and thus gives a bad user experience.

The fonts-noto-cjk version in the PPA

  https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/fonts-noto-cjk

installs 7 weight specific font files instead of a single "super"
file. This works around the Chromium/Chrome issue.

  [Test Case]

  To reproduce the bug:

  * Install Chromium or Google Chrome.
  * Go to and notice the very thin characters.
  * Install fonts-noto-cjk from the PPA and notice the difference.

  [Regression Potential]

This is about another font packaging form, without any change in glyph
coverage, so the the regression risk should be low.

  [Original description]

The package seems to only "thin" variant of the font, which makes it
very unreadable in applications such as Chrome (when it has to fall
back on Chinese fonts on a mostly-English page). I had to remove the
package and then manually download the font from Google website and
install it to make the regular weight available

  Release: 16.04 LTS
  Package Version: 1.004+repack1-1
Expected: All weights of the noto cjk font to be installed
Happened: Only the "thin" weight of the font seems to be installed

Bug description:
I was trying to use snapcraft to snap flight-of-the-amazon-queen. To
my dismay I found that scummvm crashes on initialization. Some
debugging in gdb lead me to a bug libsdl1.2 in get_progname(). The
error case, which doens't occur outside snappy confinement cause the
function to return null, leading to a crash when the data is
  subsequently used without checks.

I've patched the function to return "unknown" (as it does in other
cases) and tested that this works correctly. The debian/patches file
patch is attached. I would like to SRU this fix into xenial given the
high impact of snappy and the negative effect this bug has for each
  application using SDL.

  [Test Case]
  TBD (snapcraft.yaml with flight-of-the-amazon-queen)

  [Regression Potential]
None, this fixes a crash that occurs only on snappy. The code in question is
clearly broken, returning NULL from a function that never returns NULL
otherwise.

Bug description:
We are running an Openstack cloud and have noticed some unexpected
behaviour in our Ubuntu Trusty cloud instances created by Nova.

We have observed that if a previously initialised instance (e.g.
DataSourceOpenstack has already been run) is rebooted while the
metadata api is not available (i.e. 169.254.169.264 is unreachable),
cloud-init will retry a few times then switch to DataSourceNone and
  regenerate host keys.

  # Boot instance under normal conditions
  ubuntu@vm1:~$ readlink -f /var/lib/cloud/instance
  /var/lib/cloud/instances/cd535bc4-9c2f-4d31-8903-0ede59c7ef95
ubuntu@vm1:~$ grep "Generating public/private rsa key pair."
/var/log/cloud-init-output.log
  Generating public/private rsa key pair.

  # Stop neutron metadata api service and reboot instance (observing that
host keys were regenerated)
  ubuntu@vm1:~$ readlink -f /var/lib/cloud/instance
  /var/lib/cloud/instances/iid-datasource-none
ubuntu@vm1:~$ grep "Generating public/private rsa key pair."
/var/log/cloud-init-output.log
  Generating public/private rsa key pair.
  Generating public/private rsa key pair.

So far so good since we expect this behaviour, but now we reboot this
instance with the metadata api is once again reachable. Cloud-init rightly
selects the original DataSourceOpenstack instance but it does nothing since it
already ran once (and it is set to only run once). The problem here is that the
original host keys are never
restored so any client connecting to that instance will have no option to
accept the new host keys along with MITM attack warning.

  ubuntu@vm1:~$ sudo reboot
  ...
  ubuntu@vm1:~$ readlink -f /var/lib/cloud/instance
  /var/lib/cloud/instances/cd535bc4-9c2f-4d31-8903-0ede59c7ef95

Surely we could find a way for cloud-init to know that if if the
current DataSourceOpenstack uuid matches its previously run uuid, then
it can check that the host keys are consistent with the original run.
@smoser suggested in a side discussion that dmidecode info could
perhaps be used since the Openstack instance uuid can be found there:

  ubuntu@vm1:~$ sudo dmidecode -t system
  # dmidecode 2.12
  SMBIOS 2.8 present.

  Handle 0x0100, DMI type 1, 27 bytes
  System Information

  Handle 0x2000, DMI type 32, 11 bytes
  System Boot Information
Status: No errors detected

If cloud-init kept a copy of previous host keys prior to regenerating
them, it could presumably use this info to know when to safely restore
  the original host keys.

Since it is not inconceivable for the metadata api to become
unreachable for a brief period (perhpas during an upgrade), i think we
really need to make cloud-init more tolerant of this circumstance.

  3) What you expected to happen

When I use bash-completion it should not read the /etc/passwd file or contact
the Active directory.
It is very hard to see this problem unless you run this on a machine with
slow authentication... but the commands below will show if the /etc/passwd or
sssd are used by bash_completion or not:

  root@ubuntu1404:~# strace bash -c ". /etc/bash_completion; quote_readline
'/something'; echo" 2>&1 | grep /etc/passwd
  root@ubuntu1404:~# strace bash -c ". /etc/bash_completion; quote_readline
'/something'; echo" 2>&1 | grep sss

When the ~ are escaped on line 545 and 547 in /usr/share/bash-
completion/bash_completion then bash_completion works as expected.

  4) What happened instead

Every time you use tab-completion in bash on ubuntu 14.04 it will read
the /etc/passwd file and if sssd are installed and configured for
Active Directory authentication it will talk to sssd... and this can
  be slow in some environments.

  root@ubuntu1404:~# strace bash -c ". /etc/bash_completion; quote_readline
'/something'; echo" 2>&1 | grep /etc/passwd
  open("/etc/passwd", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 3

Bug description:
Select "edit with external editor". The image opens in Gimp, but
Shotwell crashes. Save the image, open shotwell (order doesn't
  matter).

  * The image thumbnail doesn't change proportions to the edited image,
resulting in squashed image. And rotated images lose their rotation
information on screen. The underlying edited image is unaffected. This
happens only with images edited with the crash above; previous images
  are fine.

  * I am unable to permanently change associated data such as the
grade/stars. Once I quite Shotwell those changes are gone. Again, this
affects only images edited as above.

  * This happened with the update to Wily Werewolf (Shotwell
0.22.0-Ubuntu5). Previous Shotwell version in Vivid was fine.
