[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1579034] Re: installs smbclient.ini to wrong directory when used with php 7

2016-10-20 Thread Nish Aravamudan
Thank you for filing this bug report!

On 16.10:

$ apt-file list php-smbclient
php-smbclient: /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/smbclient.ini
php-smbclient: /usr/lib/php/20151012/smbclient.so
php-smbclient: /usr/share/doc/php-smbclient/changelog.Debian.gz
php-smbclient: /usr/share/doc/php-smbclient/copyright

So needs a backport accordingly back to 16.04. Investigating!

Bug description:
  Hello.

I have php 7.0 installed. I installed php-smbclient but it gives an
  error that /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/smbclient.ini is missing.

It turns out that the php-smbclient package installs the file in
  /etc/php/mods-available/smbclient.ini.

To fix I had to copy /etc/php/mods-available/smbclient.ini to
  /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/smbclient.ini and then re-install php-
  smbclient.

  Thank you!

Go software using crypto modules. Juju-core was accepted in the archive with
a vendorized version of golang-go.crypto at the last minute, but it should be
removed and the archive version used instead.

  [Test case]
  - building Juju -
build juju-core, make sure it uses golang-golang-x-crypto-dev.

  - rebuild tests for reverse dependencies -
  rebuild r-deps for golang-go.crypto.

  [Regression Potential]

juju-core currently ships a copy of golang-go.crypto with itself. It
shouldn't, and should instead use the copy of golang-go.crypto from
the archive by Build-Depending on golang-golang-x-crypto.

This requires a newer snapshot of golang-go.crypto as juju-core or
golang-go.net require the acme package from crypto, which is not
  properly exported in golang-go.crypto 1:0.0~git20160824.0.351dc6a-

  Hi,

a Debian user reported that his session was running with SIGPIPE set

The whole investigation is in the downstream bug, but in summary the
glib gio functions set the disposition, and nothing reverts it. Using
g_spawn_*() function should do it, but they're apparently not used in
  lightdm.

The reporter also provided a minimal patch, which is attached.

Adding hugepage and NUMA support check for aarch64

Nova ignores aarch64 while verifying for hugepage and NUMA support.
AARCH64 also supports hugepage and NUMA on the same libvirt versions as of
x86.
Hence adding this chek for aarch64 also.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Although aarch64 supports spawning a vm with hugepages, in nova code, the
libvirt driver considers only x86_64 and I686. Both for NUMA and Hugepage
support, AARCH64 needs to be added. Due to this bug, vm can not be launched
with hugepage using OpenStack on aarch64 servers.

Note: this depends on the fix for LP: #1627926.

  [Test Case]
  Steps to reproduce:
On an openstack environment running on aarch64:
  1. Configure compute to use hugepages.
  2. Set mem_page_size="2048" for a flavor
  3. Launch a VM using the above flavor.

  Expected result:
VM should be launched with hugepages and the libvirt xml should have

  Actual result:
  VM is launched without hugepages.

There are no error logs in nova-scheduler.

  [Regression Risk]
Risk is minimized by the fact that this change is just enabling the same code
for arm64 that is already enabled for Ubuntu/x86.

Put the system in a reboot loop and watch for a remote fault condition, or a

Bug description:
With the switch to systemd, all support for iscsi root (and other)
filesystems disappeared, since shutdown yanks the rug out from under
  us.

Rather than just relying on /etc/iscsi/iscsi.initramfs (which d-i
creates..), the DEV check should be expanded to include iscsi devices,
and networking.service ExecStop should honor those checks.

  Related bugs:
* bug 1229458: grub2 needed changes
* bug 1621615: network not configured when ipv6 netbooted into cloud-init
* bug 1621507: ipv6 network boot does not work

  [Impact]

With the changes from the above, the iscsi root (at least in the ipv6
case) gets disconneceted prior to clean shutdown (ifdown downs the
interface), resulting in a failure to enlist, commission, or deploy
cleanly under MAAS. (and a failure to cleanly unmount the root
filesystem when it is over iscsi.)

  [Test Case]

Given a MAAS 2.0 installation, and the packages in the other bugs,
attempt to enlist, commission, or deploy a host with xenial.

  [Regression potential]

This restores the pre-xenial behavior of not shutting down the
interface if there are network drives at the time that neworking is
stopped (making it a no-op.) The additional change is to detect
"/dev/disk/by-path/*-iscsi-*" as a network disk, replacing the check
for the existence of /etc/iscsi/iscsi.initramfs, which was only
created by debian-installer (and maas until recently).

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1631474] Re: No networking with initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu8.3 and ip=dhcp boot option

2016-10-20 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
-
-  * 0.122ubuntu8.3 of initramfs-tools no longer correctly processed
- ip=dhcp or ip=:eth0:dhcp
-
-  * Regression-updates
-
-  * The fix better parses the ip= command line argument.
+  * initramfs-tools SRUs introduced regressions in ip= syntax, which cause
unexpected behavior

  [Test Case]
-
   * Create a machine that boots using an nfsroot.
-
   * Use ip=:eth0:dhcp on the kernel command line. To set up
     networking.
-
-  * Discover that the device never comes up because, networking is not
- configured correctly.
+  * Discover that the device never comes up because, networking is not
configured correctly.

  [Regression Potential]
-
-  * Regressions potential is limited to machines using
- ip={""|*|on|any|dhcp} on the kernel command line. As this is
- already broken regression potential is minimal. This is common on
- machines that use nfsroot or otherwise pxe boot.
+ Should be back to original behavior before ipv6 support was introduced in the
past 2 or 3 SRUs.

  [Other Info]

   * There are a number of other issues in this code base that are not solved
by this fix.
     - The ?*:?*:?*:?*: use case falls through to the default case, and likely
breaks there. As such static assignment via ip= appears broken
     -
   * The networking configuration does not strictly follow the kernel
documentation as described
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/filesystems/nfs/nfsroot.txt . This
should be fixed.

This bug is a regression of changes made under bug 1628306.

  Original Bug Description Follows==

  initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu8.3 introduced a serious regression where
networking is not initialized when the boot option "ip=dhcp" is
provided. We are seeing this problem in AWS, but cannot confirm if this
issue is specific to AWS or will occur with different hardware or in
  different environments.

Removing "ip=dhcp" from the boot options with 0.122ubuntu8.3 results in
  networking being configured.

The issue does not occur with 0.122ubuntu8.2 or previous versions when
  "ip=dhcp" is set.

AWS has no console so debugging is not a trivial task. I do have a
console log with some output, and will update this bug shortly with it.

2016-10-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package initramfs-tools - 0.125ubuntu6

---
initramfs-tools (0.125ubuntu6) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * Fix case where ip=dhcp and ip=:eth0 and other ip= instances exists on
the kernel command line (LP: #1631474)
  * Also fixed an error discovered by the shellcheck static code analyzer
where "$DEVICES" would be processed as a single device where-as removing
the quotes allows the list to be correctly processed by the for loop.

If a process using libnss-ldap calls fork() and SIGPIPE was blocked, the
atfork() handler in the child process failed to catch the SIGPIPE as it was
supposed to do, that is in the call to do_close_no_unbind(). So that, the
uncaught SIGPIPE will be eventually
delivered when the child unblocks signals. This usually make the child
process die unexpectedly.

I found a well-known Linux vendor fixed this issue with the following
patch. This unblocks the SIGPIPE before calling do_close_no_unbind()
and restores the original sigmask afterwards:

  diff -up nss_ldap/ldap-nss.c nss_ldap/ldap-nss.c

 do_close_no_unbind ();

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1635256] [NEW] [xenial] search domains in networkd do not get propagated to resolvconf

2016-10-20 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Search domains specified in networkd do not get propagated to
/etc/resolv.conf via resolved in xenial, as systemd-networkd-resolvconf-
update.service only tells resolvconf about DNS servers. This is not an
issue any more in yakkety and zesty as that uses resolved and that unit
is gone.

This was uncovered while working on adding nameserver support to
netplan, in bug 1626617. To fully support netplan/networkd in xenial we
should fix this.

(2.4-0ubuntu1) needed for running snaps inside of LXD containers (bug

squashfuse and snapd 2.16+16.10 (from yakkety-proposed) and then run
snaps inside of unprivileged LXD containers.

I have verified that it works well for the root user inside of the
container but there are some issues when a normal user attempts to run
  a snap command.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Users of kdump won't be able to dump if their system uses
hugepages/hugepagesz on the cmdline.

  [Test Case]
  1) Install crashdump
  2) Boot machine with hugepages= or hugepagesz= set to a significant amount of
memory
  3) Try to crash with 'echo 'c' | sudo tee /proc/sysrq-trigger'

  [Regression Potential]
If users really want to have hugepages/hugepagesz on the kexec'd kernel for
kdump they can add this via KDUMP_CMDLINE_APPEND in /etc/default/kdump-tools.
This patch should also potentially go upstream.

  2016-10-11 22:28:27.327 66082 ERROR nova

I believe the failure happens inside the [neutron] section of
  /etc/nova/nova.conf.

This does not look related to the scheme (https) being used as the
result of enabling SSL because doing a one-off test with the
openstack-nova-conductor service after changing the schema to http
results in the same startup failure.

Another one-off test substituting an IP address instead of a FQDN
inside of nova.conf with the openstack-nova-conductor service as
before results in openstack-nova-conductor starting properly but
eventually failing with a connection-related failure due to the one-
off data used (an IP address of 1.2.3.4).

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  * People who are using VPN services (of any kind, using vpnc, openvpn, pptp,
etc.

  [Test Case]
  HOW TO REPRODUCE
  1. Upgrade to a newer Ubuntu release.
  2. Using the Network Manager application, try to start a virtual private
network connection.

  EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
  - The connection to complete successfully.

  ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR
  - The current configuration files, created by a previous network manager
installation in the gconf user home folder, makes the application to misbehave;
returning a log like this:

  [Regression Potential]
May cause Gnome-Shell detection to give up prematurely.

Bug description:
  Hi,

a Debian user reported that his session was running with SIGPIPE set
to SIG_IGN, and tracked the issue to lightdm.

The whole investigation is in the downstream bug, but in summary the
glib gio functions set the disposition, and nothing reverts it. Using
g_spawn_*() function should do it, but they're apparently not used in
  lightdm.

The reporter also provided a minimal patch, which is attached.

Bug description:
  [Description]
After the package is installed some of the files that support the
initialisation of the database seem to missing. As does the policy.json.

  The files that are missing:

  /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mistral/actions/openstack/mapping.json
  /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mistral/resources (directory + contents)
  /etc/mistral/policy.json

Without the DB files the schema initialisation fails:
  # mistral-db-manage --config-file /etc/mistral/mistral.conf populate
  Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/bin/mistral-db-manage", line 10, in

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mistral/actions/openstack/mapping.json'

And without the policy.json clients cannot authorise.

  [Test Case]
  Reproduce db issue:
  lxc launch ubuntu-daily:yakkety
  lxc execbash
  apt update
  apt install mistral-api
  mistral-db-manage --config-file /etc/mistral/mistral.conf populate

  [Regression Potential]
Very little as the fix just updates the package to install the missing json
files.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Current users running Xenial will be unable to upgrade to Yakkety
via the GUI, due to missing package. The button to update basically
  does nothing.

   * Fixing this will allow the significant proportion of users likely
to upgrade via the GUI route to do so.

   * The package ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt is a required component for
GUI distribution upgrade in kubuntu, so reintroducing a dependency
ensures this is installed by default for such users.

  [Test Case]

   * In software sources set the default Release upgrade path to Normal
to allow Xenial to Yakkety upgrade.

   * In plasma-discover when offered the upgrade click the 'Upgrade'
  button to accept.

   * As tested in up to date xenial, without ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt
installed the upgrade does not launch - failing without any apparent
error message to the user. In effect the button appears to do nothing.

   * With ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt the upgrade launches and continues
  as intended.

Tested and confirmed using the updated package in

https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/xenial/+packages?field.name_filter
  =plasma-
  discover_filter=published_filter=xenial

  [Regression Potential]

   * This is the installation a missing package via an updated
dependency, which is only used during release upgrades. Therefore it
is anticipated that the regression potential is minimal. We are
restoring a package that was always intended to be installed.

  [Original report:]

  Xenial 16.04.1
  plasma-discover (5.6.2-1ubuntu1)

Previously in wily muon-updater depended on ubuntu-release-upgrader-
qt, meaning this was installed by default.

In Xenial muon-updater became a transitional dummy package for plasma-
discover-updater, and this dependency was not carried over, resulting
in ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt not being installed by default and a GUI
release upgrade to Yakkety 16.10 failing silently to the user after
the 'Upgrade' button in software upgrades is clicked.

The bug is initially filed against plasma-discover, however it may be
more appropriate to update dependencies of another package instead.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

fcitx's classicui implementation should check for the availability of
XShape before using it, which would be the case for some vncserver
  sessions.

  [Test Case]

fcitx should not crash with classicui under vncserver session.

  [Regression Potential]

This commit adds checks before using XShape, the chance of regression
is minimal. In the other hand classic ui is not the default in Ubuntu,
  so the impact is low.
