o am trying to have a run button fork off a new gvim and increase
a global counter after the first gvim is closed. my main gtk goes
dark and nothing responds in this case. i don't know if every
distro of linux does this or if it [ this error indicator] only
allpies to Ubuntu.

A quick update:
The branch is ready to be merged. It's just waiting on a review from
Lapo and Cosimo (who are still on holidays till Monday I think). They
also probably need to fix various issues in Adwaita that were exposed
by these refactorings.
