Why unrelated package trigger rebuild?

2020-10-08 Thread zimoun
Dear,

>From the Data Service:

the commit 39222080911eaf3d7f74effe4467c1a04464aef3 which is about the
addition of the package ’dkgpg’ modifies the hash of the package
’ghc-haddock’ from:

  /gnu/store/s7s3ksfhkdbb6k6si8bjnxy8vvywv322-ghc-haddock-2.22.0

to:

  /gnu/store/j5llszq1cf12qn79bvhc042wc06ibfix-ghc-haddock-2.22.0

Well, I miss why the addition of one package changes the hash of another
unrelated one? Is it expected?

All the best,
simon

Hi Lulu,

Welcome!

Have you already tried GNU Guix? The package manager on foreign
distro? The full Guix System?
If yes, are you comfortable with? Feedback is very welcome. :-)
If not, you can give a look at the manual, especially the Binary
Installer on foreign distro section [1].

Do not hesitate to report here or help-g...@gnu.org or #guix if you
hit an issue.

Well, last but not least, what topic you may be interested in to work on?

All the best,
simon

Thank you guys for all the time and energy you've put into the Hurd!
Can't wait to run my own childhurd!

Cheers!

Hi!

We have just published a blog post on building your own Guix System with
GNU/Hurd and running it in a virtual machine; the road we traveled since
beginning of April and what is possible right now. Read it here:

Hi Gio',

Somehow I missed this message. Sorry about that.

looking at your recent addition (cool!) I found that your commit
also

upgrades nix to 2.3.7, probably by mistake.

Yup.

I don't know if there is a policy in cases like this: should we
revert

that commit and split in two commits?

Nope. It shouldn't happen, of course, but IMO once it's done it's
done (assuming it didn't break Nix, of course).

Thanks for paying attention!
