As I am on the East coast, in the Philly area, if anyone happens to
know of any that will be taking

The problem with California is that the activity is centered around SF
and LA, with little or nothing between. California is huge. . .
there's 400 miles of not much in the middle!

I'm planning to arrive in time for the Newport Vintage Dance Week so
will be bringing 1850s, 1890s and 1910 outfit with me. Have heard
there might be some 18c workshops that I'm really interested in as well.

Sigh, I'd absolutely love to go to the Newport Vintage Dance week.
Every year they send me the publication for it but there is no way I
can afford it yet, not to mention I have no dance partner so it would
be silly to go and not be able to dance. That is so true about Cali.

I will agree and disagree with this comment. We have a number of weekend
renfaires in my area, and a very big civil war event once a year. We are also
going to have a Jane Austen event in May. But other than that... you are right,
very little else goes on in the middle of California.

Hello all, while I have been fairly quiet on the mailing list until
today there are a few things that have been waiting to be passed along

I know of an excellent source for good, plentiful, and usually dirt

Costume College 2010, presented by the Costumer's Guild West, is the first
weekend in August, In Los Angeles, if you can get here. It is a great
event, with three days of workshops and the price is fabulous!

Hope to see you there.

What are the exact dates? August begins on a Sunday - so is it the 1st

I have been to the South Street shops once but found most of what was

Justine,
I remember Jo-Mar fondly from a visit in the late 90s. Stuff of

Most remembered: having a huge bag with my purchases inside, I held
it by the top edge, using both hands. I slung it gleefully over my
