The maids were all along the route of the Azalea Trail run. I imagine they
are, or were, called out for a number of trademark events. Even though I
was running, I noticed them and thought they were a hoot.

The sad thing is that there is so much that one can do in a design with
ruffles and none of the gowns seem to try that route. it's either rows or
scallops. :P I wonder if any of them ever considered pleating the ruffle
(probably because it's more difficult then gathering). If I was to be a ATM
and
fabric covered with lobsters
or something.

We lived in Gulfport until 1980. Maybe that was when they changed.
Previously it was to represent the antebellum period. Mobile, Natchez, and
I believe Vicksburg do the trail maids. Am I leaving out any other cities?
