We got some stuff that acted like the old caged hoop I have in an airplane/RC hobbiest shop. It was a short (3') length--but was spring steel. My DH needed to make a new spring for and old box camera. The stuff came in a variety of gauges. I bet you could get it in longer lengths from the mill.
