[h-cost] Re: Current projects

Seems like a bunch of the lists I'm on have a thread going about current projects. So thanks to all of you who answered my plea for some sort of idea of what to charge for contract work. Well, I'm now under contract to do a bunch of 20th century sewing, 1919, 1943, and early 1950's. Thank

A teacher at my kids' school had ALL her 7-8 graders doing a fabric project for a local shelter- either knitting, crocheting or quilting. And all the kids got into it. It was great seeing those tall, lanky 8th grade boys with their knitting. :-) -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Silk organza would be the classic fabric to use if you want the top fabric to have more body, (due to it's static retention, it sticks to the outer fabric of its own accord). Don't think it works with the synthetic stuff. A quilted peticoat would work well to prevent boning coming through (my

My Nana could knit and crochet (and was the best dressmaker *and* tailor I've ever seen, as well as being an incredible cook and baker - aren't some people just annoyingly talented??!!) My mother, although useless at sew-y things (she broke sewing machines) could knit and crochet without

Hi Becky. The problem was not asking the questions. The problem was that you did not start off by explaining what the questions are for and an explanation of how they would be used. Unrelated messages on this list are usually an offspring of a costume discussion. I dont think Ann had any

I learned to crochet first when I was little, and discovered it was very easy to shape it various ways. I was actually resistant to knitting, because at the time it was not as interesting. I remember a Girl Scout troop project (I was about 9), knitting scarves. They only showed us

I did on the first submission but it came back So I cut it shorter. Like I said, this is my first assignment and it was a broad issue with little specifics except a question that cam be answered yes/no. So I'm learning how to ask a question as well as how to gather data. It's a learning

A friend has been trying to teach her daughter to knit (she's 8), and I may suggest crochet first for her. It's a lot more instant gratification, useful for those with a small attention span. grins..yup, that's why I like it so much! Dianne

Becky, What is trying to be conveyed is a procedure in off topic posting. Off topic posts are not banned. When posting a non costume related topic it is appropriate to place in the subject heading OT for off topic posts (even the old timers forget this once in a while). Then in the post, a simple
