Our publisher moved to printed hardcovers last year; I think we were one of
several series affected by the change. So, no more dust jackets. On the plus
side, it means that libraries that routinely discard the dust jackets aren't
losing the nice color picture -- typically the only photo we can print in
color in a volume.

Well, I got a band saw so I can make my own jigsaw puzzles. So, if I
make puzzles from prints of historical portraits, I guess that is costume
related!

My husband gave me three costume books:

How the Watch Was Worn: A Fashion for 500 Years, by Genevieve Cummins

Accessories to Modernity: Fashion and the Feminine in 19th-Century France,
by Susan Hiner

The Cut of His Coat: Men, Dress, and Consumer Culture in Britain 1860-1914,
by Brent Shannon

A fancy walnut hand mirror

Also some non-costume books and some chocolate truffles.

My costume-related gift, from my wonderful sister-in-law, was a pair
of lace-up Victorian-style boots -- that actually fit my ridiculously
long and skinny feet! I'm thrilled! Those have been on my wish list
for quite a while now.

Congratulations to everyone on the costume-related haul. Great topic,
Fran! And all of you who posted book titles have just given me a gift
-- a reading list. :-)

Happy New Year and best wishes to all!

Thanks for the information. I think we'll scan the cover and make ourselves a
dustjacket. Our books need the actual extra protection, although we're not
collectors or anything.

Very pretty rather dainty. I shall be the belle of the ball!
