A pair of pants shirt that need minor repairs. BUT, on the floor
beside beside it is the fabric I scored at a church sale!
(A local church had a member who had a MAJOR stash and when she decided
she couldn't sew anymore, donated it to the church. It took them 2
weeks to measure it for the sale.)

So, white linen cotton for chemises; fuschia, teal black wool
cotton heavy knits (some of it Pendleton!) suitable for suits pants.
Brown linen for a tunic, or maybe mundane pants; enough white drapery
sheers yardage to veil the whole frelling Barony, /including/ the belly
dancers. Some Stretch Sew bathing suit blouse patterns for a
quarter a piece.

And, best of all, a 4yd, 60 wide light blue piece of heaviest weight
Ultrasuede for $20 BUCKS. Gloat, gloat gloat. I will Never wear that
color, but it is my best friend's favorite shade and she fondled it but
didn't buy. So I did buy it I put it in her bag, saying, here's your
Xmas present. It just revolted my soul (as a former Joann's employee)
to leave that buttery soft piece of gorgeousness behind!

So, now I'm at /least/ 8 projects further behind! But d@mn, that woman
had Taste!

One of my dummies is on display at the Riversdale House Museum, wearing a dark
brown short gown with dark blue floral design and a dark blue wool
petticoat--this is one variant of the dress of enslaved African Americans in
the early 19th century. There are four other figures included in different
outfits.

I'm working on the Past Patterns 1793-1820 Transition Stay (which,
incidentally, I do not recommend as a pattern unless you already know
what you're doing - the instructions are very vague and confusing in
several crucial areas). I got myself into a major muddle with the
initial round of fitting, and I've just bought another length of the
fabric I'm using (off-white cotton duck) so I can cut out the main body
pieces again and start over. This gives me just under two weeks till
the time I need to have the stays done, so hopefully I'll be able to
make it...

The draped fabrics for an 1910s dress for the Portland vampire masquarade
ball - the friday event most likely. It's dark red silk with a black silk
gauze overlay and accents of dark gold. As soon as I take my final - I get
to start cutting.

A couple of weeks ago I sent my Pfaff Creative Vision in for some needed

It now works like MAGIC. The way I'm sure it was meant to work. I am now
happily embroidering every suitable piece of fabric and turing them into bags,
framed pictures
 or backseat organizers!
My next big project is my daughter's wedding dress. We are both very excited.

My girls are still celebrating Mardi Gras. I got a beautiful Indian
embroidered beaded belly-dancing costume in the French Quarter of New
Orleans. I also picked up some great hand painted masks in the Quarter.

Another one of my ladies is wearing my evening gown from a Mardi Gras ball...my
treasure find in Mobile was an evening bag that is completely fringed Mardi
Gras colored beads...gold, green, purple set upon gold satin. It went to the
ball with me. The bag is so cute that I used it when we went to see The Lion
King last week.

BTW, I found the costume mecca at the French Quarter on Mardi Gras Day. We
went to the Zulu Parade and then headed into the Quarter. OMG! The costumes
were to die for!!! 85% of the people were in costume. We caught the Bourbon
St. Awards...a costume contest. Most of these costumes were 12 ft high. I
did catch the St. Anne's procession through the French Quarter. If you have
Facebook, you can see some of my photos here:
