[h-cost] Kero smell in Indian muslin

2009-11-08 Thread Aylwen Gardiner-Garden
I have some Indian block printed fabric that smells of kerosine after
washing it for the first time. Can anyone recommend how to rid it of
this horrible smell?

Regards,
Aylwen

I'd try sunlight on the reverse side, spread out for a day or two.

Well, the best way to get rid of bad smells is always lots of fresh air. I'd
hang it out for a few days and see how much it improves.

Thanks for this. I washed two pieces of fabric from the same supplier
but it was just one that after being washed started to stink the whole
house out. Maybe a reaction with one of the colours? Its outside in
the sun over my box hedges - still stinks though.
Bye for now,

Aylwen
